I live in California and since the rash of wildfires that were caused by the electric power provider they have a plan to shut down power when we have dry weather and high winds so I thought that it would be a good idea to install this emergency light. If the power is off at night this light will provide illumination while we get set up for what could be days without electricity. When the power goes off it lights up. It's well made and it provides lots of bright light. Installation is easy but you will need a 120V wire to connect it to so you may need to hire an electrician.

I really like the looks of the light and the function is good but I was not impressed with the construction of this item. It is totally made of thin plastic and the glue used to hold the electrical board was very weak. Caution must be taken when installing because it is easily broken. I would recommend being very cautious when installing to ensure the plug doesn't pull the panel of the base.

This is a commercial emergency light unit although I am using it to light a 17 ft residential foyer. The power pack is three AA rechargeable batteries. The LED lights are nice and bright, and have some directional adjustment. The backplate has knockouts for electrical box mounting or wall anchor/screw mounting (conduit). I would have preferred those to be predrilled, but it was no serious issue. I did have an issue where I had to unplug all three connections, i.e., the battery, and both lights, and replug them, before the lights would activate. That made me a little nervous about whether the lights would come on when needed, but I tested it multiple times using the circuit breaker and it was fine after that initial issue. Also, do note that it supports two voltages, so the black and red wires are not both used, and it connects to copper wiring only.
