Damages Wood Furniture Finishes!
We bought Concrobium Mold Control and it ruined the finish on our antique furniture. It stripped stain down to the wood on an antique desk and dulled the shine off an antique chair. Be extra careful using this product as it can ruin your furniture even though the manufacturer claims it is safe to use on wood finishes. Beware!

That's not what we expect to hear! While Rust-Oleum Concrobium Mold Control is suitable to use on most surfaces, we always recommend applying in a test area first. It is also essential that any finish or stain on the surface is in good, sound condition.

I Worked In Mold Remediation In Lafayette For 12 Years, This Product is Junk!
I Worked In Mold Remediation In Lafayette For 12 Years, This Product is Junk... I had worked in and around the Lafayette & West Lafayette area for well over a decade providing services which included Mold Remediation, Isolation & Removal. Often times some mold/mildew spots were so minor that we could effectively use bleach/peroxide & distilled water solution to kill the fungus. But, once in a while, the mold/mildew growth was indeed so advanced, that more drastic measures were necessary. But of all the chemicals we had employed for mold/mildew removal and blockage, this product is definitely my LEAST favorite! I am renovating a garage and when we gutted the garage down to the bare studs, we discovered some light growth of mold in one corner near the overhead door. The spot wasn't that big, probably about 12-15 Sq ft total growth accumulation spread out over 8-10 ft of wall space. I figured I would give this product a chance, but accomplished no visible results. Even after eventually applying an entire gallon of this product, I was unable to detect ANY degree of mold/mildew remediation from the affected area. In the end, I truly felt as though this was about the equivalent of spraying plain tap water onto the mold/mildew growth... There was NO visible change of any kind. Very disappointing, and I will be resorting to the tried & true application of bleach, peroxide & distilled water. * I have attached pictures of the treatment spots in question. These images are the AFTER pictures, and having waited about 4 hours to see if the effects were gradual. But, as you can see, the mold/mildew remained untouched. I did not get before pictures, but I was not expecting to have any issues, so I did not think it would be necessary.

Let's see what we can figure out. Rust-Oleum Concrobium Mold Control eliminates mold, it is not a mold stain remover. The effective way to eliminate mold and remove the stains would be to first apply Mold Control in a thin even layer over the affected surface, allow to dry completely. Mold control works as it dries by crushing mold spores at the roots. Once completely dry the mold will be eliminated, even if mold stains remain. Next use Concrobium Duo Blast Mold & Mildew Deep Stain Remover on the mold stains, following the application directions of on the back of the bottle. Once and stains have been removed apply Mold Control again on those areas, allowing to air dry. This will effectively remove the mold and the mold stains.

We pulled tile off the wall and found it covered with black yuck. Thought I'd give this product a try - mostly because it had no VOCs. I followed the instructions and BAM - it knocked down the yuck. Because the drywall was gross, I scrubbed the black off and did another application. Looks perfect now. We can retile the backsplash and are confident that Mold Control will prevent further growth. Awesome stuff!

It depends on the situation it worked in my husband shower where it could dry well but when my real estate client used it in his crawl space for fungal growth it did not kill all of it and he used twice as much as was recommended in a fogging machine. :( that's when it's important that it work well.

Thank you for sharing your experience and providing this feedback on our Concrobium Mold Control. If a crawl space has a severe amount of mold or mildew, we do suggest using a cold fogger to ensure that all surfaces are reached evenly with the Mold Control. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 Rustoleum

I wanted to believe in this product after some of the positive reviews, I follow the instructions as the manufacturer recommends and I did not see and difference whatsoever. I treated a small section and right next to it I treated with bleach, I have attached some side-by-side photos so you can compare, the section treated with Concrobium has little to no effect over the mold while the bleach side looks much better. Don't waste your money on this.

A great product! We had walls and ceilings covered with mold from water damage. We used a scrub brush and Concrobium and all the mold disappeared. We washed the surfaces and used a primer to prepare the walls and ceiling for paint. Wow, this product did a great job with no toxic fumes.(See the attached image of the product in use.) We have purchased 6 gallons of Concrobium. It does appear to be more expensive than the competitors' similar products.

My home has flooded 2 times this year. My sister researched the product and bought it after floods from Harvey. I researched and asked contractors what they were using. The ones I asked were using Concrobium Mold Control. So we decided it was the product to use. I cannot testify that the mold is gone after spraying but I can testify that any flood odor we had before is gone. We chose to use the product the second time we flooded only 4 months apart. I would use it again but pray I dont have to. I would have given 5 stars but since I havent used a microscope to see the mold I cannot testify to all mold being gone but feel like it probably is as product states.

            Hi Mimi,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. To set your mind at ease, once Concrobium Mold Control dried onto the surface, it eliminated any mold on the surface. However, since the product is non-toxic, it does not contain any whiteners or bleach to remove any stubborn staining afterwards. You can follow up with a Concrobium Mold Control-dampened cloth or sponge to wipe the surface clean or use a cosmetic cleaner to remove any stubborn staining. Once the stains have been removed, reapply Concrobium Mold Control to prevent further growth.

We hope this new information is helpful. concrobium

Concrobium works very well but be patient or you'll be sorry, as I was. You have to let the spray dry to the touch. Wait six hours or overnight. If you don't wait, you'll smear the Mold Control as I did. This stuff works like nothing else. It pulls the mold to the surface where it wipes off effortlessly. How well does it work? Swipe across the dried walls and the nasty gray mold sticks to individual sheets so well, that one light pass of your hand leaves the wall like it's freshly painted, not a blotchy mess.

Hi there Pelusa, Thanks for sharing your feedback. We're sorry you've had a negative experience. As the manufacturer, we are very interested in supplying consumers with a quality product that delivers the expected performance. Anytime we hear problems encountered in the use of one of our products, we want to get involved and resolve the difficulties the best we can.

Bleach-based cleaners do not kill mold on porous surfaces and will actually encourage mold regrowth in the long term. Concrobium Mold Control has undergone extensive third party testing in order to obtain EPA registration so rest assured our product does what it says on the label provided the correct instructions are followed.

Once you have sprayed the solution on the moldy surface and allowed it to dry, the mold has been encapsulated and eliminated. That said, please keep in mind that because Concrobium Mold Control contains no bleach or whiteners it will not change the color or appearance of the mold stains.

We hope this new information is helpful. We are sorry again for the unsatisfactory results and we hope this experience does not prevent you from trying or using our products again in the future. concrobium

I get mildew on the under side of my boat canvas. Any product with bleach cannot be used, as it will rot the stitching. This stuff is amazing! I spray it on, wait 30 seconds or so, brush it, then wipe it off with a towel. All stains are gone! Mist the canvas and let it dry for extra protection.

                Hi MattC,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear you experienced an unsatisfactory experience while using Concrobium Mold Control. As the manufacturer, we are very interested in supplying consumers with a quality product that delivers the expected performance. Anytime we hear problems encountered in the use of one of our products, we want to get involved and resolve the difficulties the best we can.

You mentioned in your review that the product was applied to the underside of your stairs and saw no results even after 2 weeks. To set you mind at ease, once you have sprayed the solution on the moldy surface and allowed it to dry, the mold has been encapsulated and eliminated – in other words, your mold problem has been eradicated. Concrobium Mold Control contains no bleach or whiteners and will not change the color or appearance of the mold. If staining or residue remains, scrub with a cloth or brush dampened with Concrobium Mold Control – or take other cosmetic steps to improve the look of the surface like Concrobium Mold Stain Eraser. Remember that once the cleaning step is complete it’s important to leave a layer of Concrobium Mold Control on the surface to provide mold resistance. As well, the important thing to remember is to fix the root cause of your mold issue or Concrobium Mold Control is a temporary fix and would have to be applied frequently.

We appreciate you taking the time to review our product and we are sorry again for the negative results. We hope this experience does not prevent you from trying or using our products again in the future. Concrobium

I started thinking I would use bleach then vinegar, But after some more research on Google searches I decided that this product was superior, less toxic than bleach and really the best product for porous surfaces. That is the key, the others kill mold but do not work for porous surface like wood. This was for my attic. I was able to spray all of the sheathing of my roof in my attic space with a 1 gallon Home Depot sprayer using 2 gallons of mold control. With some leftover product I treated a plant that I had mold growing in the dirt within hours the mold was gone. Anyone trying to use another product that might be more toxic in your attic Should definitely rethink it and use this product. It is impossible to spray an attic roof without getting dropped on and I was glad in a confined space there were no fumes or toxic chemicals dripping on me.

I purchased this product to use on my mother's house that flooded with 2 ft of water as a result from 50 in of rain from Hurricane Harvey. We had to wait 4 days to access the house and start the dry out process. We were concerned with the potential that mold would be horrible. I saw this product while picking up products to help the clean up process and thought this may help. After the removal of all furniture and lower 4ft of drywall, we pump sprayed the lower wall areas with Concrobium. I am satisfied that using this product it has eliminated concerns on mold through the house.

I purchased the fogger & gallon size with plans to cure the attic in our home. However, I needed to address a smaller job relating to my kitchen ... purchased this for the interim. We had a water mitigation company come in to treat mold from water damage caused by a Frigidaire dishwasher (2nd time around) & the company did not rid of all of the mold. During the recent heatwave, our home smelled rancid from the mold & was causing headaches. Not only did Concrobium take care of the mold but it reversed the discoloration in the studs. Normally, I am not impressed with products on the commercial consumer market ... but for the peace of mind it has provided to me & my family, priceless.

To set your mind at ease, the solution has shown efficacy under protocols established by EPA certified labs. Without a demonstration of effectiveness, the surfaces above could not be claimed on the EPA label. Furthermore, Concrobium Mold Control contains no bleach or whiteners and will not change the color or appearance of the mold. Once you have sprayed the solution on the moldy surface and allowed it to dry, the mold has been encapsulated and eliminated – in other words, your mold problem has been eradicated.

RMR 86 does not eliminate or prevent mold; it is only a cosmetic cleaner that removes mold stains as it contains bleach.

We hope this new information is helpful. Again, we are sorry that you had a negative experience while using Concrobium Mold Control and we hope this does not prevent you from using our products again in the future. Concrobium

Applied to the walls with johny mop, microfiber or even brush. On a variety of wall finish (paint, wall tile, rubber cove base, ground) it is easy and safe to use. Additionally does not produce any noxious vapors (VOC's). I does help in suppressing the growth of mildew. In constant high humidity conditions it will delay the re-apparition of mildew and will make it easier to remove any new mildew. It will not always remove the stain embedded into the wall. Will need the stain remover from the same company to remove deep stains in plaster of cement walls. In conclusion: Does a good job at removal, suppressing new growth and is extremely safe to use. Based on personal experience it will not stain the wall/ceiling paint and/or stain carpet or personal clothing. Will take care of major mildew encroachment.

Its just baking soda and water
It works ok for alot of applications but not everything. All they did was put baking soda and water in a spray bottle, put John Holmes picture on it and charge you $9. HD sells both for a total of $3. If you dont believe me just look at the label. Sodium carbonate is the active ingredient in baking soda. Do yourself a favor go here http://blackmold.awardspace.com/kill-remove-mold.html and figure out the best option for your situation. I found it to be truly helpful.

Response from Concrobium Product ExpertAug 12, 2016
                    Hi Braden,

We are sorry to hear you experienced unsatisfactory results after using Concrobium Mold Control. You mentioned in your review that Concrobium Mold Control is made up of only sodium carbonate and water. While sodium carbonate is the listed "active ingredient" on the label, in fact there are two other ingredients in the solution which, when combined with water, result in this patented tri-salt polymer that eliminates and prevents mold. Concrobium Mold Control is an EPA-registered solution that has been thoroughly third-party tested and approved by the EPA in order for us to make any claims on our packaging. As the manufacturer, we are very interested in supplying consumers with a quality product that delivers the expected performance. We hope this new information is helpful and does not prevent you from trying our other products in the future. Concrobium

                      Excellent product
I purchased the 1 Gallon Mold Control product and used it at my Condo in Ontario, California. There was a musty smell that I simply could not get rid of. I realized that it was MOLD. I had the Condo remediated but the remediation was a "failed remediation". Several attempts to remedy the situation also failed. The spores were now outside of containment and would now always be. I was concerned that the MOLD would travel and spread throughout the Condo to other locations (IT DID). I was so upset and depressed. I decided to use Concrobium Mold Control as a last resort. It worked like a charm. As the mist dried, it created a white crust that I simply vacuumed up and once I vacuumed the odor was gone. The mold was gone, the place smelled fresh and clean. (One issue was that in the bathroom where I used bleach there was an issue with the Concrobium not working very well). After contacting the customer support, they walked me through the process of cleaning the bleach and reapplying the Concrobium. It worked. Seems like Bleach acts as a barrier or something... I suggest that if you plan on using Concrobium, DO NOT USE bleach first. use it AFTER Concrobium if you must use it.

                      AMAZING product!!!!
I was very impressed. I bought an ultra lite travel trailer "as is" and decided to do the repairs to the floor myself. I'm not done yet but my point is that the kitchen and bath were awful!!! The bathroom floor was BLACK with mold... this stuff cleaned it up very nicely. I used it several times in the bathroom over the course of a week or two (I'm in no hurry). The floor had to be dried out completely before you can spray this stuff so that was 2 weeks before I even bought it. After I sprayed, I'd give it a day to dry, then repeat over several applications and several days allowing it to completely dry in between..

Works - Used as part of MAJOR remediation project
We purchased a Condo a few years back and noticed a weird "paint" smell. We figured that the Condo was just painted and the VOC's were high due to the cheap paint used to coat the entire residence. After about 4 months, the smell was still very strong. I began feeling my ears clog every time I came home. My wife began feeling a weird "GLAZE", as she calls it, in her mouth along with clogged ears, stuffy nose etc. We decided to get the home checked for mold and found several dozen species with high concentrations. We found that prior to purchase there were several leaks from the unit above into our unit and the adjacent unit also. Long story short we had a MAJOR problem that we needed to deal with. We hired remediation company after remediation company to come in and remove the mold. Even after the mold was removed we had allergies. It was not until we used the Concrobium via their FOGGER that we finally found relief. Residuals Spores and Mycotoxins - Once sensitized, everything began to bother us. Even small amounts of house dust, perfume, cleaning solutions, soap... you name it. I thought we would have to live in a bubble for the rest of our lives. We decided to get our carpets removed which helped a little bit but still that clogged ear feeling and difficulty breathing. We figured, if WE feel this, then there is something still here in the home and we can't sell the Condo with an issue still existing. We cleaned the tiles, HEPA Vacuumed everything and still nothing. I bought some Concrobium from the Home Depot and figured "Why Not". Sprayed it all over the place but nothing. I was very disappointed. I called to complain and their support staff explained that I would be better off fogging the whole condo unit. They explained to me how to measure and FOG the correct amount. I went back to Home Depot and purchased 3 Gallons of Concrobium. I ordered a Concrobium FOGGER, crossed my fingers and fogged the whole unit. 24 hours later I came back to the home and found this white crusty film all over everything. I though "OH GREAT" I just ruined our Condo. So I got the HEPA Vacuum out and thought... At least I tried... After cleaning up all of the Concrobium and wiping down everything once more I left. After being out of the house for a few hours my ears unclogged and I felt better. I went back to the Condo to check on some things and to my surprise I felt nothing. NO Clogged Ears, no difficulty breathing, no runny nose. I was excited and brought my wife to the condo to see if she could tell or not. NOTHING. No clogged ears, no allergic reaction, NOTHING. THANK YOU CONCROBIUM!! You saved our lives.

                      Instant, effective results!
After shallow basement flooding by stormwater, carpeting and plywood paneling quickly started growing mold. Application of this product, using a pump sprayer, quickly eliminated existing growth and odor - - and also prevented any new mold from developing. The basement rec room was saved! (Again.)

                      Pricey but effective
A little pricey for the amount of coverage, but so far so good on keeping the mold from growing after the flooding.
