Unique Succulent
This Costa Farms Orange Desert Gem Garden is a very different, unusual arrangement. The 6" white ceramic bowl contains three succulents that are in their natural grown color, accompanied by one Desert Gems cactus (from the mammilaria family) that has been artificially colored a bright orange. The orange color will not fade, wash out or rub off. However, any new growth on the Desert Gems cactus will not be colorful. New growth will be the plant's original color. The mammilaria cactus is a very slow grower so it will be bright orange for a long time, I think.
All four of the succulents / cactus have the same soil, water and light requirements so the arrangement should be easy to take care of. All the succulents were fresh and had roots already growing on them. The garden came very well packed and padded to keep it all together and unbroken. The plants looked a bit squished together when I first unpacked it but, within a day it relaxed and filled out nicely.
One very disappointing thing about this arrangement, is that the ceramic bowl did not have a drainage hole. This is a must if you're going to have success growing succulents. A drainage hole allows excess water to flow through the pot, not puddle around the roots and cause rot and ultimately, death to the plants. Without a drainage hole in the pot, there's too much guesswork involved as to how much and how often to water. Because it was important to me, I drilled a drainage hole in the bottom of this ceramic bowl.
Other than that, this Costa Farms Orange Desert Gems Garden is quite unique, interesting and definitely a conversation piece.

Gorgeous! Can't wait to see them grow!
Costa Farms know how to pack this planter and succulents very well! No plants were harmed in the shipping! The box arrived and all I could see was a bubble of brown recyclable stips of paper wrapped inside a ball of plastic. I could tell that Costa Farms cares about their products because they also sent care and growing tips as well as an informational letter on how to contact them if there were any problems. I love the cute white planter and the three succulents are thriving and healthy. I would love to purchase more from this company!

Beautiful dish garden
A great and beautiful accent to any table or desk. It is certainly easy care and in a very neutral pretty simple container. The three cactus are all very different in color and texture so they look great together. a super gift for anyone especially if they dont do well with most plants. Cactus are easy low maintenance. It came packaged extremely well so easy to send to a friend.

Great interior plant
This is a very nice easy care and low water cacti and succulent arrangement. The way Costa packages the plants to prevent damage is impressive so when I removed all the packaging the plant look almost exactly like it is supposed to. This arrangement doesnt need much water, mainly sunlight and it can be placed on a window sill, table, or desk to add a nice pop of color. I am very happy with this purchase and will by from Costa Farms again due to the quality of packaging to ensure that the plant arrangement is in perfect condition upon opening at home.

Beautiful and colorful
This is my first Costa Farms product and I am very pleased with it. This is a beautiful arrangement in a bowl. I am hesitant to put plants in my house because of my cat. But this has been placed high on my mantle where he can’t reach it. The colors are amazing and the fact that it needs little watering is a big plus. The instructions say it needs watering once every two weeks and the less the better. You can also add a few drops of plant food once every six months. It is also drought tolerant. It adds a pop of color to my otherwise plain mantle. It would make a great gift too. It came to me in Texas all the way from Florida and looks as fresh as having been bought in a local store.

Orange for sure
The main eye catcher is the bright orange cactus used in the array of cacti plants. It is packed very well to protect the plant in shipment. The plants used did not fully match the pictures in the Home Depot web page, but I am pleased with the arrangement they sent. This needs a sunny spot to thrive. Watering is minimal every 10 days or so. Company includes info on care and who to contact to if there were shipping issues.

Easy-to-care-for colorful cacti
I was doubtful that live plants would arrive in decent condition when shipped to my home by truck, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that COSTA FARMS packs live plants so well, they are unharmed and attractive right out of the box. Now gracing our kitchen window, this charming bowl planter holds a colorful assortment of cactus plants that love light, but need little water.

Cute but arrive stressed.
I just received this Costa Farms Orange Desert Gems Garden in 6 in. Gloss Ceramic Bowl and was skeptical about how it would arrive. Surprisingly, the little fella came well packaged. I carefully and slowly unwrapped this gem to prevent damage and was overall surprised at the condition. Naturally a plant covered will show signs of wilt. I immediately read the instructions, then added a little water, and fluffed and picked through the areas that needed attention. Cactus, IMO are like cats-they require little maintenance but the return they give back is wonderful. No two home climates are the same, so I recommend one doing their homework for the best care and placement. I am pleased with the plant and will enjoy this for many years. VERY Cute!

Always happy with our Costa plants
Don't know how Costa Farms does it but they consistently ship the absolute best plants and arrangements and pack them so that not a leaf gets broken. My wife and I are just amazed when we unpack Costa boxes. Look at this adorable arrangement of cacti and imagine packing and shipping it damage free. Costa did it. The arrangement is so cute - a perfect gift for a friend or yourself. Cacti are very slow growing which eliminates the need to pot up frequently and they require nothing except some bright light and a small amount of water 1-2X month. The perfect plants for the non plant person, the super busy person, the gone a lot person. There are simple, easy to follow care instructions included. Perfect for a desk or side table near a window.
