Rated 4 out of 5 by from Utilitarian crates Ordered two sets of three crates to create some order in an older open wood shelving unit in our living room. The size of these crates was perfect for my purposes. The crates were described as 'unfinished'. Please take Home Depot's word on that because they truly were. Perhaps slightly smoother on the outside than inside; regardless, a good sanding would be needed depending on how you plan to use these. I took the easy way out and didn't sand because I'm not storing anything that will snag. The crates take paint really well. Staples rather than nails are used to put these together (no assembly needed). If you look for heavy duty crates then look elsewhere. These are for light-medium duty. I'm storing video games, board games and such in these. Worth the price for me.

They are not too heavy. I ordered them to store bottles of wine and beer for a wedding reception. They looked attractive at the bar and were useful for sorting and carrying wine and other liquor. Now the wedding is over, I plan to use them to store other things. Much nicer than plastic milk boxes.

They are the perfect size to showcase the various cupcakes to choose from. We'll add some paint, material and ribbon and we will be ready to start the sales. Crates are well made and easy to work with for our project.
