Answer This Question

A:  The entire tool is a slim design. I'm not sure if its slim enough to fit that small of an area but it is significantly slimmer then a standard pipe wrench of tge same length. Has great jaw grip as well.

Go buy a Ridgid Aluminum Pipe Wrench.
This pipe wrench was a huge disappointment and from field use, this wrench is not built to last. STAY AWAY. I do work in maintenance and I found myself using this wrench at least once a week although there are times where I'll be working on something for hours. This wrench wore out quickly and it jumps about every 2-3 turns on every single job. I eventually bought a ridgid aluminum pipe wrench and it has not faltered once in the 3 months I've had it so far. I'm selling this thing asap

When things don't want to move and you have to persuade them. I work near the ocean and everything rusts no matter how much you try to protect it. When it comes time for maintenance you sometimes need that extra bit of force to convince things to come apart like they should. The smooth action on the adjuster means I can set it with one hand when I need the other to hold something else in place. I carry many tools on my truck and anytime I can get one that weighs less and still works like it should I am happy. So far the gripping surface is showing no signs of wear and I expect this tool to be with me for years to come.

Outstanding Pipe Wrench - Big enough for tougher jobs, still small and light enough to carry routinely. The handle is solid-feeling aluminum, and the jaws are steel. The jaws open large enough to fit on 2-1/2 inch pipe. The handle looks and feels like it is forged, not cast. If it is cast, they did a great job on the finishing. The maximum opening size of the jaws is 3-1/4 inches and the jaws are about 1-3/4" deep. This makes it a hair too small to fit over 3" nominal pipe (3.5 inches OD). The jaw is marked with standard pipe sizes so you can spend a little less time fussing with adjusting the jaws. The teeth are well cut and sharp.

The Crescent 14 in. Aluminum Long Handle Pipe Wrench works. The wrench is lightweight but very strong. The long handle gives better leverage to bust loose those stuck pipes. The jaws are wider for better grip and they utilize their patent pending "K9 Jaw teeth design" The jaws look pretty knarly (see picture) and grip very well. The jaw capacity is 2 inch pipe.

I'm trying out this Crescent 14 L pipe wrench. Right from the start it has a good look and feel to it and very well-built. I tried it on some 2" inch iron pipe it gripped very well and as it States holds at an angle as well. I didn't find I could get a good grip is 30° but it's understandable seeing I was at the max size pipe this wrench is rated for. The extra long handle gives lots of Leverage. Adjustment nut works fast to change size. For a Homeowner like myself it would be rare I would need anything bigger.

It's aluminum but it's heavier than I thought it would be. I was surprised by the weight of the wrench. It feels like a stronger alloy. I have an adjustable pipe wrench that is 100 percent aluminum (except the jaws) and it is much lighter than this one from Crescent. The jaws are heavy duty and they really bite into the pipe material so it's easy to get a good grip with the wrench. I mainly use this size wrench to take assemblies apart that have been in place for years/generations. This wrench id doing the trick for me and works well to break the old joints. I hope you find this helpful.

WOW! WOW! WOW! I hated having to get out my old steel pipe wrench. It was heavy, had rust (no matter how many times I oiled it and kept it clean) and it just screamed "old tech". This wrench? Not at all. First, this wrench is so lightweight you can lug it around and it's not a chore. You can devote more of your strength to torquing than to having to just hold the thing up. Next, the teeth of this wrench get a phenomenal grip and don't let go. The jaw of this wrench is also much narrower than your dad's cast iron wrench and allows you to get into some tight spaces that the old door stop wrench can't even come close to getting into. My maiden use of this wrench was to remove a 1" T pipe from a well pressure tank. Of course it was rusted and of course it was difficult to get to but this wrench didn't let me down. The length of it allowed me to put enough torque on it that I didn't need a breaker bar. All in all- an excellent wrench!

Great pipe wrench and definitely light weight. You would be surprised how helpful the slim jaw is when your using it to join two threaded fittings together. Crescent has always been a very trustworthy brand. The adjustment on it is very smooth and can be turned with one hand pretty easily. I did get water on it and I saw no signs of rust anywhere. Plus it did not get slippery, the paint on it gets a decent grip. The teeth are really aggressive and I have not had a slip yet. Even after some pipe dope got on them play still bite the same. I really like it’s compact size and the fact that it is slimmer and I’ve wanted something like this for a long time. The jaw opens really wide to about 2 inches but that is pushing it. It’s made of aluminum which helps out a lot with the way Definitely is making my jobs easier and looking forward to Crescent making a bigger size with the same design.

CRESCENT 14 IN. ALUMINUM LONG HANDLE PIPE WRENCH. This is a great pipe wrench I really like the long handle. The weight is great also in comparison to a steal pipe wrench. The jaws are steel and it has a side grip for flush round pipe that im sure will be very handy, I haven't needed that part yet. As a mechanic I have used a lot of pipe wrenches and this one is really comfortable especially with the long handle.

The handle is Aluminum which reduces weight compared to older models. My close up photo shows the nice textured finish which looks good and provides secure grip. The essential parts that GRIP and apply FORCE, ( jaws, rack and screw,) are ALL STEEL. That's crucial for proper operation and durability. This massive STEEL JAW opens nearly 4 inches wide and can still grip tenaciously at that setting! In the photo of that opening ( with tape measure) please notice the replaceable lower jaw. THAT is the only part that MIGHT eventually wear down if this was used daily for decades by a professional plumber. And THAT is why professionals will appreciate this design. If and when that crucial gripping jaw ever does need replacement, that can be done easily without need for welding. That's smart design! It guarantees longevity and makes repair fast. Good thing too since welding steel to aluminum is not easy! One other photo is of particular interest to ALL home-owners who live near trees. In years past, we have had THREE devastating (and disgusting) floods in our basement because of tree roots clogging the sewer drain pipe. Although it IS possible to get that drain trap open with a BIG crescent wrench, that damages the nut. Opening that drain pipe for maintenance with this guy is EASY. It's MUCH less work and less expensive to do yearly drain cleaning than it is to repair a flooded basement. Having this tool at hand makes that less of a chore. And that's why I think EVERY ONE needs a good LARGE pipe wrench like this. Whether you rent or own, there WILL come a time when you need to quickly STOP a leak, turn OFF a main or just break a stubborn connection free. It's no fun standing by helpless while waiting for a plumber to arrive! When water, especially dirty water, is pouring into your domicile you need to take ACTION NOW. So even if you never want to do plumbing, a good quality, yet reasonably lightweight pipe wrench like this is your friend. I keep mine right under the sink. That way I always know where it is because I see it every day when I reach for cleaners and other stuff kept there. Because this tool is NEW, Clean and nice looking, the gentle sensitive people in my house are not offended by its presence there. And that means ANYONE here can quickly fix a problem before it becomes an expensive nightmare. Think of it as cheap insurance. Get one.
