A: Hi ToolLady, this set includes a 8 in. & 12 in. adjustable wrench.

A: Ironically the 8 inch wrench is 8 inches and the 12 inch is 12 inches. See photo

A: As one might guess from their names, the big one is slightly over 12 in. long, and the small one is slightly over 8 in. long. The set I bought were priced at $32.68, not $55, but prices vary from time to time I suppose. I thought the price was reasonable given that the wrenches seem to be of good quality.

A: Yes you are missing something.
Well the 12 inch one is 12 inches and the 8 inch one is 8 inches.

Solidly mad wrench set
This five (5) piece set of adjustable wrenches (15-inch, 12-inch, 10 inch, 8 inch and 6 inch) will be adequate for most routing maintenance tasks. Chrome plated forged steel construction results in a solidly made and easily wiped down tool. Except for the 15-inch wrench, adjustment is easily a single hand operation. The adjustment knurl on the 15-inch tool would occasionally “hang up” requiring a nudge from the opposite hand. This was, most likely, due to the larger “play” in the jaw mechanism the 15-inch tool exhibits (1/16th of an inch). The jaw play decreases as the size of the tool in use, with only 1/32nd of an inch for the 6-inch tool. This does not affect use of the tool except when using the etched scales (inch and metric) on the jaws, when the play must be considered. Crescent’s jaw design allows fully bottoming hex hardware, providing a better grip and minimizing slippage. Finish varies with the size of the tool, with the 15-inch tool exhibiting the coarsest finish in the “web” of the handle. This is merely an aesthetic issue and does not affect use, as the finish of the hand contact surfaces of all sizes are smooth and free of burrs. The parallelism of the jaws varied from tool to tool, with the larger sizes exhibiting less parallelism when the jaws are fully closed. An opening is provided at the end of each of the handles for hanging the tool or attaching a lanyard when used aloft, and a directional arrow is forged into the end of each handle indicating the traditional rotation direction for applying the turning effort to the hardware. In summary, this set of wrenches will be a viables choice for those not wanting to invest in complete sets of inch and metric open-end wrenches or for field use so you will always have the right size wrench for the task at hand.
These are the old crescent wrenches I remember when I was younger. They were never referred to as adjustable wrenches. We just called them Crescent wrenches Still the same heavy duty quality that they have always had. This five piece set has a 5,8,10,12,15 inch wrenches. They even have size markers on the side of the jaws in standard and metric. I find that rather amusing that you have a standard and metric size adjustable wrench. I would probably never use those but some people might.. Just grab one and open it up to what ever size bolt you have. Either way these are nice heavy duty wrenches and will last a lifetime.
A good quality set of adjustable wrenches. The range in size. The biggest one (15 inches long) is very heavy weight. I took a picture comparing the head to a 25' tape measure. The biggest one is probably only good for specific situations where you have an extra-large nut. The other 4 wrenches are a more useable size. Great when you need an extra wrench handy. A great addition to anyone's tool box.
These authentic Crescent brand Wrenches are manufactured with long term reliability in mind; they are obviously of high quality. Five wrenches to choose from: 6", 8", 10", 12", and 15". The sides are marked in Metric sizes on one side and SAE on the other - except my 8" inch wrench was missing its SAE markings. For 3" of difference in the length of the wrench, the 15" wrench would only open up about 1/8" wider than the 12" wrench - not much gain for such a big jump in size and weight, but the increased leverage is welcome for those tough large nuts and bolts.
Crescent, a trusted name in hand tools has 5 five piece adjustable wrench set that can handle most any job. Their are 15", 12", 10", 8" & 6" all made of "Crestoloy" alloy steel.
Each wrench has a hex jaw for superior strength and a directional guide for optimal use. Each wrench has a laser etched adjustment guide in both SAE standard and metric for quick reference.
Crescent Brand, Master Adjustable Wrench Set (5-Piece) impress me as a good value for the home owner, a handy man, or someone starting out in the trades. These affordable wrenches are made from cast alloy steel and have good strength for virtually all needs of an adjustable wrench. Where extra heavy-duty use is required, forged wrenches would provide even greater strength over cast alloy steel. The finish and chrome plating are very good. The jaws adjust easily and grip fasteners squarely and securely without slop. A laser etched scale is provided on the jaws of most wrenches in the set. Some users will find the scales useful in their work. The wrench handles are not entirely smooth due to being cast, yet comfortable, and they do provide good grip in hand and in use.
I’ve had Crescent wrenches in my toolboxes as far back as I can remember. The handle’s unpolished surface allows for a slip-free solid grip. The jaws are etched in standard and metric scales which is great in selecting the size of a support wrench if needed for the job. The thumb wheel rides smooth, and the jaws lock tight. The five-piece tool set easily covers any and all of my DYI jobs.
This set has a good range of sizes. They are heavy, the 12" weighs 2 lbs. The knurl adjusts easily without a lot of play, and I was able to hold a fairly heavy bolt vertically in the jaws without dropping it . I like the etched measurements so I can switch to an appropriately sized socket or wrench when I need to. I don't think these are top of the line, but for the price these wrenches are a great set for regular use.
The Crescent Master Adjustable Wrench Set arrived yesterday and I couldn't be more pleased. The set includes a range of sizes (5 to 15 inches) for a wide variety of tasks, and the quality cannot be surpassed as they are heavy duty and manufactured from a durable steel alloy. I especially like the fact that each wrench includes clearly marked metric and imperial measurements to precisely show the settings for the bolt opening. And, the thumb wheels used to adjust these settings roll very smoothly allowing quick and easy adjustments. If you have this set you'll never need another adjustable wrench.
Crescent Adjustible Wrench Set (5 pieces). Sizes from 6 in. to 15 in. These wrenches are thicker then the wrenches I already have. The heads are polished but not the handles. The two larger sizes are heavier then what I'm used to. Good for very large bolts / nuts but heavy for engine repair. Openings are marked with both metric and SAE dimensions. There is some slop in the adjustment mechanism but not too bad. Good set if you have a wide variety of mechanical projects.
