Answer This Question

Hello, Cory. Thank you for posting your question. The seamer would not be suitable for 16 gauge stainless steel. It is designed for duct work on 30-26 gauge steel 0.016"-0.022" thick. I hope this helps.

Irene, There is a latch on the side of the tool that holds that handles closed for storage. Simply filp this latch up and it will release the handles.

Does these Hand seamer pliers lock shut like vise grips?

                Answer This Question

No, these stay open and you squeeze it shut to use them, they will only stay shut if you use the latch to keep them closed but these are so bad it doesn't even work so stay away from these!

Excellent, high quality tool that does what it’s engineered to do, bend sheet metal. This little tool helped me to properly bend and custom fit some fascia trim pieces and it made clean & neat bends that made the job look very professional. Overall very happy with them thus far

                    Quality Tool. Performs as expected
Bought this seamer for a small project. Jaws close evenly. Handles are comfortable and their design provides enough leverage to make bends with ease. The depth markings on the jaws are helpful for a visual reference. Happy with this purchase

Product was all that was expected. This purchase was to replace my prior seamer that burnt in a fire.

                      Not the best for longevity
If you’re getting into the sheet metal trade, these are pretty inexpensive and are great for starters. But, once you use them enough you will learn to hate them. The set screw to make them lock will become loose, they fit in tool pouches awkwardly, and the jaws don’t open nearly as wide as they need to for majority of applications. Spend 20 dollars more and get a set of Fairmont or Midwest tongs.
