Has been a nightmare since the beginning...
Every year of ownership has been a big disappointment. When choosing this machine I wanted to invest in the best of the best, and have a machine that my family could use for many years to come and tackle the snow drifts we have in the prairies. This blower fails to cut through snow drifts left only after one day. The middle impeller tends to stop the snow pour from pushing/pulling through the snowbank and just seems to make a wall that does not allow the snowboard to proceed forward. I’m curious to know if a two stage would out perform the three stage now in a comparison. The three stage kind of seems like a gimmick now. The only snow that is ideal is super light snow. Anything even slightly wet plugs it up instantly. One positive thing is the on the fly height adjustment, when it’s actually working. Times one side has been higher than the other and the drive system jams up forward motion. Times the track has popped right off, the track does like to skip on the sprockets under load. Many times the transmission would not activate with the speed lever. Will have to slam it back-and-forth to get something to slowly engage. Reverse is a joke should be just as fast as the forward gears, so you’re not stuck with a big brick deep in the snow trying to back up. The chute crank cable kept falling out, the dealer had to drill another hole to Jimmy rig it back together to extend it, have had it only pop out once more since then. NOW JUST OFF WARRANTY BY A MONTH, THE MAIN DRIVE SPROCKET ON THE RIGHT SIDE HAS EXPLODED!! It’s made of plastic??? Why??? Crossing my fingers the dealer will be able to help in some way.. One thing Cub got right was the motor, thing fires up in any temp, runs like a champ. In conclusion this blower gets smoked by my older smaller 24” single stage snowblower, in speed, reliability, and throwing performance. I have only used the blower maybe 10-15 times and now I have a nice garage ornament(it is a nice looking machine). CubCadet, send me any new machine prototypes before sending to market, it didn’t take long at all to figure out all the short falls of this machine. Great idea with this model, poor execution though. (In the photo you can see the 3 stage system not cutting through the bank at all and the middle blade appearing to prevent the blower from actually moving forward and cutting threw(shear pins are all there, and blades are all moving)) to

Make sure you have 7000 extra sheer pins
First time using it i went through 6 sheer pins. The 3 that were provided with it and 2 I had on hand. After the 6th broke I had to bust out my old snowblower. Couldnt imagine being more disappointed. Probably gunna try to return this. Do not buy it.

Had our first storm this past friday and broke 6 sheer pins, the 3 extra provided and 2 that I had on hand. After the 6th one broke I ended up having to use my old snow blower to finish.

Snow Blowing along the North Coast - 3rd yr review
This is an update to my review from about three years ago (Nov 2017). In that time I have probably used this machine 2-3 times in the first two years and twice(2) this year for a total use of not more than 8-10 snow removal uses. While the blowing of snow is very good, the maneuverability of the unit is lack luster at best and the traction, that the tracks provide, do sometimes slip on packed snow occationally. As stated in the original review, this machine with tracs is good if you are just doing a long driveway (or run) but if you have a "turn around" apron then clearing this is "difficult" and down right "maddening". Turning this trac beast 180 degrees is very difficult using the steering levers and the two backup (reverse) gears are so slow it is laughable. Reverse gear #1 is all but useless and gear #2 is not much better. Anyway, today, which was the second use this year and probably about the 8th or 9th use over the past three years, the left track stopped moving and I found that the TRAC DRIVE WHEEL, which is made out of plastic, had cracked (disintegrated? pieces here and there on the driveway) at the sprocket LIKE A FEW OTHER REVIEWS HERE STATED. Of course the 3 year warranty ended last month (typical) and I tried to stop by the dealer today and see about the TRACK DRIVE WHEEL part, and ask if there is a replacement procedure (not shown in the owners manual nor a belt adjustment procedure either) but they were closed. I will stop by again during the week with the following two questions: 1) can this be converted to wheels, and if not, 2) what is the replace procedure for the TRACK DRIVE WHEEL (sprocket) once parts of obtained. This seems to be a flaw on this model (3x 30 trac) and I would not suggest getting it unless you ONLY have a long straight narrow drive. But, as always, YMMV. Good Luck.

Disappointed, happy for 3 year warranty!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this last year (Dec 2019) and loved it. The first time we used it this year the drive sprocket on both tracks broke. Leaving it unable to move. We were shocked that they were made out of plastic. There is another review purchased the same month that had the same problem. The repair man said it was not common. We wonder if the plastic was defective at that time. Luckily it was still under warranty and we were able to get it repaired at no cost. We will keep an eye on it for any cracking this year. Perhaps we should have purchased the model with wheels.

                  This thing is amazing!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the 3X30" TRAC model after doing alot of research and actually watching videos of the thing in action on YouTube. (Didn't know they sold Cub Cadets in Russia! They LUV them too) read a lot of reviews at different sites ( some good some bad), went back to YouTube and after watching a video of a guy in Maine use his Cub after a Blizzard was sold. I picked it up Oct and began prying for snow. Kept saying 2 foot, 2 foot.... On Dec 16th 2020 I got my wish. 2 foot snowfall overnight. Started snowing about 3 in the afternoon and continued all night. About 8:30pm I went out to start cleaning up ( Couldn't wait any longer) The snow was about a foot with a lot of drifting. It started on the first pull and I got started. The thing was amazing It was throwing the snow about 40-50 feet and it was like you couldn't feed it enough snow. I cleaned up between the cars at the house ( 6 , the boys had their friends over) where the snow had drifted up to the windows. The TRAC would keep going forward even when the snow was well over the scoop. Had to back it out of the tunnel it dug and let it fall and go forward again. I quit when I had the cars able to get out if they had to. Woke up at 6 and started again with about 18-24 inches on the ground and drifts higher then that. The thing never faltered. I had to quit about 10:30 to go to work. I came back from work and went back out to finish. Here's where this thing is worth every penny. The front of my house is on a 4 lane state highway. PEN-DOT comes through and leaves the snow pushed off of the highway all across the front of the house. This used to make my front driveway unusable. This time the pile of snow along the highway was about 5 foot high and tapered inward about 20 feet. I started making passes running along that Wall of Winter from one end to the other, taking a full 30 inches at a time. The 3X TRAC never faltered, never stalled, didn't hesitate at all. AMAZING! I finally have a way to clear the front of my house and be able to use my driveway again. In the reviews I read a lot of people complained about the shear pins breaking. I did break two during the three times I was blowing snow during my clean up. The first one broke when I hit a piece of broken/loose asphalt about 2 inches thick and 6 inches around. Exactly what should have happened. The second time I hit my PVC sewer clean out valve top ( dumb, I know). Again, exactly what should have happened. I did not break a shear pin while banging away on the wall of winter nor did I break any others at all. Can't say why all the others complained, I didn't see it happen to me. This snowblower is a PIG! It will eat just about any amount of snow you feed it. The power is clearly evident because there wasn't a time when it bogged or stalled even though I was really moving serious amounts of snow. the Third Stage is what makes this thing perform like it does. The controls are all organized in a logical manner and you can use them without looking. The hand warmers were outstanding, even with gloves on you can feel the warmth without it being too hot. Just right. The lights made working in the dark a breeze. They really light up you work area and far too, not just in front of the scoop. The tracked chassis with the ability to set the working height of the snow blower is genius. One thing I really appreciated was how when the snow got deep and packed the snowblower didn't start to crawl upward like you see in wheeled snow blowers . At no time did this machine begin to crawl up because the snow got denser. It maintained the "angle of attack" ( is that the correct description?) no matter how deep or packed the snow was. Especially in the wall of winter. Again amazing! The tracks on this snow blower are the best part. No more hitting the pile of snow and pushing, leaning, cursing, trying to help the tires find traction. At no time did I have to work at getting the thing to move forward in the direction I wanted. The turning clutches are also a fantastic addition. The thing turns easily and with gusto. There is only one thing I found frustrating. In deep snow if you start from scratch you really can't turn around so you have to back up to begin another cut. That's the same as all other snowblowers. This snow was close to 24" deep so no choice but to back up. The frustration comes from how slow reverse is. R1 is so slow I can't imagine when you would need to go that slow. R2 is better but I kept finding myself frustrated because it was taking waaayyyyy too long to get back to where I started. It's really slow. Now I was in a hurry in the morning because I knew I had to quit to go to work so every reverse scenario was agonizing. I began to clear areas at the end of every run just so I could turn around and move forward in the opposite direction to keep making progress. That works too. This is my first Cub Cadet product and so far I'm sold. The quality is top notch, the functionality and performance are amazing, and I would recommend this piece of equipment to anybody. Buy it, you won't be disappointed!

                    Extremely disappointed in Cub Cadet
I purchased this snowblower through Home Depot last year in November. I felt like I really did my homework, comparing the snowblowers with tracks (I have a very steep driveway) and bought the Cub Cadet. I have used it 6-8 times in the last year since I purchased it. The third time I used the machine, I was unable to go forward. Upon inspection, I found the main plastic wheel track had broken at the axle. I contacted customer service, and was given a repair center to take it to. (Have a truck to transport it because it’s a big heavy unit.) The required service center was booked a month out, so that was a major inconvenience. When the unit was finally repaired, I used it a few more times (but we didn’t get a lot of significant snowfalls). I cleaned and drained the fuel for the summer, and covered my snowblower, storing it in the garage. Yesterday, I used it for the first time this season (10/20/20) and after the third pass on my driveway the auger wouldn’t engage. After some disassembly, I discovered the spring on the auger cable was broken. The customer service folks I spoke with at Cub Cadet didn’t care. And said it will be an additional $27.10 for a replacement cable (not covered under warranty), plus I have to fix it myself. After spending over $2,0000 on this snowblower, plus time and repairs, I am extremely disappointed. I would strongly look at an Ariens, or Toro if you are in the market for a track model snowblower. Save yourself the headache of Cub. As a side note, The Home Depot store that I purchased it through was very accommodating, and helped me make arrangements to transport it to the service center. They actually seemed to care.

Had Home Depot assemble. Added oil and gas at the store, it started on the second pull. Pleased. Got it home, 70 miles from the store. It had sat in the truck in the old for 4 days, again started right up. Started blowing snow on a gravel path, did ok on old wet snow (slush). Then the left track came off, used a Honda for 10 years and never had a track come off. No instructions for putting it back on. Had to manhandle it 100 feet with one track back to the shop. A track should never come off. Very disappointed.

When I received this snowblower, I thought it seemed very sturdy, but then I used it and changed my mind. I am currently building a new home, so I purchased it to keep my driveway clean for the contractors. The first time it was used, it kept clogging up with snow. The snow was power and it was about 6" deep. It was extremely frustrating because it took me longer to snow blow the drive than it would have to shovel it, and with the effort that is required to turn the machine, it probably would have been less effort to shovel. The second time is used it, I noticed that the left track stopped moving. I had to drag the heavy machine into the garage to look at it, and come to find out, the track wheel is cheap plastic and it had broken (see photo). I would have returned the item, but I purchased it a few months before it snowed and I only had 90 days from the date of purchase to get it returned. Ironically, the snowblower became snowed in and I couldn't get it to the end of my driveway to take it in for repair. I have now paid someone to clear the snow, and I am going to take the snowblower in to see if this is covered under the warranty. After speaking to the Cub Cadet customer service department, and with the issues I have had with this machine, I have zero confidence in this. Please learn from my very expensive mistake and look at other brands for your snow blowing needs. On a positive note, Home Depot has been very nice and as helpful as they could be in this situation.
