My yard is full of slopes and having a rear locking differential is a must and better than only zero turn mowers, new OR low time used good condition !!

        Answer This Question

Hello John. The XT1 LT50 does not have rear differential lock. All of our residential mowers are designed and approved to safely operate on slopes up to a maximum of 15 degrees of incline. Thank you for your question.

        By|Jun 23, 2021

John = "Rear Locking DIFF" a MUST ??? ... Used ??? a) - Within ALL of the Residential, Lawn Mower Units available from Cub Cadet -(.. excluding special "XT3" Pair)- there is ONLY ONE: Cub Cadet - XT2 GX 54" D = Model Number - 14AHA6TMA10 - which has available your Diff Lock as Standard Feature. b) - Neither Home Depot nor does Cub Cadet Division sell / offer "USED" equipment.

How does it do on sloped yard i have a 20 degree slope and my older 54” cub cadet mower tires spin going up

          Answer This Question

Rush = My older {54"} Cub Cadet's Tires "spun" while trying a 20 degree slope ...... will this Unit be different? {Of Course NOT! ....} a) - 100% of Current Tractor-Mowers ALL have and utilize Turf-saving Tire Treads. b) - YOU have been very fortunate w/ Older Unit on 20 degree Slope & only experienced spinning tires ... Unit might have "tipped-over" upon YOU, instead. c) - Mowing (back 'N forth) sideways is never recommended.

          By|May 9, 2021

Manual says not to operate it in excess of 15 degrees so I don’t know for sure. However, the hydrostatic transmission allows you to “manually” control speed output instead of having to use a specific gear. This variance may make it less likely to slip.

How are the users liking the heavier fabricated deck on the Cub Cadet LT 50 inch please ? I have not purchased on yet but this cub cadet with fabricated deck has caught my eye. Can you tell the difference between the stamped deck for ones that had one to the fabricated deck when you switched please ? Any feedback would be appreciated.

          Answer This Question

I’ve had mine for 3 months & love it. The prefab deck is a plus & it’s solid. It feels rugged, it looks rugged, it is rugged. I mow down small trees, blazing trails in the woods. The basic parts (air/oil filter, spark plugs) are easily accessible. It rides nice. Handles nice. My biggest complaint is the lack of lower back support & the super sensitive safety seat. Just making minor adjustments can turn the blades off. If you stand up the engine shuts off. You can apply the brake to keep engine on while you step off but the blades always cut off. If you back up & don’t turn the ignition switch & push the button, blades shut off. This is may be a government mandate more than a manufacturing issue so all riding mowers probably have same annoying feature. The hydromatic transmission is very nice. No more clunky gear shifting. Check out the video to see it in action.

after using this deck for 2 years.... I hate this deck design.... it throws dirt on you constantly... it has an edge all around the deck that catches all debris.... you must clean the underside of this deck constantly.... crappy engineer design...

          By|May 12, 2022

Hello CRW. A fabricated mower deck is typically built from heavier plate steel and is welded. Stamped mower decks are usually made of lighter gauge steel which is formed by large molds and presses. A fabricated deck is best if you need a deck to face longer wear and tear. It is more durable and will last longer. A stamped deck has better air flow. If you only mow your lawn once a week, this mower should be sufficient. Thank you for your question.

              Cub Cadet No More
Consumer lawn mowers are not complex machines and I expect to be able to repair most issues that arise. When a consumable item like a belt breaks it should be a fairly straightforward repair. The deck belt is very simple to replace, but it is a completely different story for the transmission drive belt. Almost like the engineers have intentionally done this to prevent consumer replacement. The straightforward method would be to remove the driveshaft bolt and slide off the PTO pulley and clutch. However, based on a YouTube video I found the geniuses have used red loctite on the bolt, making it nearly permanent. Also, the guides to prevent the drive belt from slipping off the pulley leave only 1/8” clearance between them and the pulley. Great! Except they are bent pieces of the motor mount and not adjustable. This disaster coupled with the idler pulley that has to be disassembled in the center of the machine to thread the belt through only serves to increase the irritation. I had to unbolt the engine from its mount and unbolt the exhaust to eek out the precious space needed to maneuver the drive shaft enough to barely force the belt between the guide and pulley. The second flaw of many with this lawn mower is the reinforcement welded to the front underside of the mower deck. It acts as a shelf to collect grass so it can rot and destroy the deck over time. No machine is perfect, but MTD seems to be purposefully trying to make things difficult for their customers

Good powerful lawnmower. Mows very clean and level. Using it to mow about two acres of uneven gound. The large engine does like the gas but it never lacks in power. No problems with the mower. The seat is comfortable but does make a lot of popping noise due to the large springs shifting. I like the electric blade engagement and the cruise control.

There is not much to say about this thing other than how freaking awesome of a well built mower it is, WHAT A BEAST!!! My last Cub Cadet lasted 12+years, and some of the same parts still work on the new one, as if I will ever need them, but still... nice!! The fabricated deck is phenomenal, its fast, cuts everything right the first time, stripes my lawn beautifully and makes a very quick job of it all. Man does that engine purrr, its just beautiful. I wish they still made chainsaws, would buy that in a heartbeat.

good power mows like crap, lame customer service Factory blades lasted less than seven hours, customer service told me the blades they provided are the worst for sandy soil. Their solution was to SELL me a new set of blades with a $5.00 discount. This is not my first Cub Cadet purchase, but I assure you it will be my LAST!

Will not mow steep terrain without spinning tires
I read the ad but I have a steep yard and I spend half my time unsticking it. The as said they couldn't stick it on anything they tried? C'mon down and try my yard. The mower is a couple years old and does great on flat ground but add terrain and slopes and it's a boat anchor. I bought the mower because of the ad but it is unrealiable on my 1 acre property in the hills of Arkansas. No hill or slope over 15 to 20 degrees. Tires are in great shape just not all terrain I suppose..
