We bought this machine about 6 years ago for grinding up pork from our hogs. I have a family of six and we go through a great deal of meat, around 1,100 pounds of pork a year plus other meats. I have probably ground around 35 pounds of burger and sausage a month with this for the last six years and it has worked great up until about three months ago. Though I would advise you to partially freeze the meat that you intend to grind before grinding it, it works 20 times better that way. I would also advise a simple cheap cheap diamond sharpening stone and just lay the blade on it flat with a little water and simply run it in a circle for a bit to keep the blade good and sharp. I also do this with one side of the cutting discs as well to keep a good cutting surface. While this is meant to be used for meat, I also use it on potatoes, carrots and other vegetables as well as the meat, I commonly mix veggies in when I grind my sausage up, works great and tastes great and makes meat go a bit further. I also save up old hard hard bread that I pick free from stores and run that through the grinder with meats as well making meatloaf. I would recommend this product to anyone, it is well built and will give a lot of great service.

The grinder was easy to assemble, clean and store. I decided to buy it after reading it had a three year manufacturer warranty. After using this machine I believe it will last well beyond those three years. I am so glad I bought it.

Questions & Answers

The Cuisinart meat grinder has 2 sausage attachments, small and large. As for the size of the sausage the unit can make would depend on the size of the casings you are using. To avoid over-stretching and splitting the casing, do not make the sausages too thick. The meat mixture will expand slightly during cooking.

Any way of finding out the rpm on the motor? We have been using our meat grinder for quite a few years and here a few months back it overheated pretty bad. I added a couple fans and a transformer into the case and ran it 3 more months, but it was beginning to have trouble holding the tray in place it would slip and spin. I rebuilt the unit into an old pc tower and it has worked great until three days when it finally overheated for the last time and the motor is now dead and the rear bearing is really, really toast. As many hours of use we have on this thing processing all of our burger and sausage from the hogs we slaughter each year it has lasted amazingly well and honestly I am amazed at the abuse it has take. I commonly gring 10 pounds of frozen cubed meat and fat up at a time with it running for up to an hour straight working heavy. I can easily use another motor to power it and being in the pc tower case it will be pretty easy to mount, but I can find no rpm rating on the motor to have any clue what to aim for a starting rpm range when I put a motor in there. I am completely amazed that the gear box and plastic gears are still in perfect shape after all these years of running, so too are all the metal grinding parts. If I can put on a better motor I bet I can get an easy 5 to 10 more years out of it. I would end this by saying... Thanks for a great product...
