Questions & Answers

The specs say this is sanded grout...Does it etch or scratch clear glass tiles?

I have been told to avoid sanded grout products, but this looks so convenient !
Asked by: sherrie
It didn't scratch the glass tiles that I inserted into my porcelain tiles. It was very easy to use there. You must clean it fast as it is very difficult to remove if you do not. 2 buckets of clean water is necessary, as is a sponge and Microfiber Towels ...

I have a small area of about 52"x 70" inches. (Roughy 27 sq ft). I will be using 6x24 tile laid in thirds with 1/8 grout lines. Can I use the quart or do i need to get the gallon. The wall area is about 146 sq ft and I assume the gall will work fine with that 1/8
Asked by: Simone
By 2. If you don't need the second quart you can always return it.prO

This is everything they say it is: good consistency and color between various containers. The convenience for small projects is unbeatable. • One thing that is debatable is the coverage area, which for me was slightly too little. One quart tub was meant to cover 58 square feet (for 12" x 18" tiles) and it came up about 15% short of that. I'm a super high quality installer, so it may be possible that I was pushing too much grout deep in the grout lines, or losing too much from spreading and sponging/wiping. • The other thing is that the grout may be just a touch wet. You need to be careful to keep the grout lines full to anticipate shrinkage. Make sure you wring out your sponge as much as possible between wipes and don't let water sit on grout lines. • Also, the grout can leave a residue on the tiles, so you should wipe often (don't fill too many tiles before wiping). These "nit-picky" comments are probably more about application than about the product. It is a great product and you won't be disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great backsplash grout however..... Other reviewers weren't kidding when they said it dries fast! you can't use this grout like other types I've used. directions say you have 1 to 4 mins and they aren't kidding. I found that an 18x 20" area is as big as you can go. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS SPECIFIC TO THIS GROUT and you will be very happy.

Sets up FAST, so just do a small area and start your cleanup, otherwise you will have a glaze on the tile which is difficult to remove. It sure beats trying to mix up a patch of powder.

Wanted to post my own review after reading some of the scarier reviews about filming and difficulty of installation. Did a 3x6 white subway tile DIY backsplash in my kitchen with 1/16" tile spacing, and used the Fusion Pro Pewter grout. First time tiling / grouting so didn't really have any prior experience nor expectations. I found the Fusion Pro really easy to work with, and looking at yesterday's handiwork today, do not see any film to remove. The key is to work in small sections (maybe 2x2 feet or so) and then immediately hit the area with a damp sponge then microfiber cloth to remove the excess grout from the tiles. It wiped away from the subway tile surface with no issues, and the remaining grout lines look fantastic! I did notice difficulty in spreading the grout around, seemed like a lot of it would fall and hit the plastic covering I had over the countertop. Maybe that's normal for a grout installation though to have some of it fall. I would just scoop back up the bits I could and squish them together and plop them back on the float. Any time I accidentally hit the sides of my white cabinets / hardware / etc I was able to wipe it off with a damp rag. Even got some on my laminate plank floor that just wiped up without issues. I was able to do an approx 30 sqft section of tile with ~ 1" depth of grout remaining in the qt tub that I'll save for touch-ups or repair work. Since I have no prior grout experience, I'm not sure how this compares with other grout options on the market...but I would not hesitate to buy this again for another tiling project. It really did go on quite easily and the results look fantastic, and I feel accomplished as a one-man DIY team to have done the backsplash with such great results :)

This grout sets up very fast and you really can't let it dry on the tile surfaces because it is too hard to wipe off. The directions warn against doing an area larger than you can wipe off in five minutes. That's very true. I was lucky in that I was only doing a small repair to a kitchen countertop but even at that, I did more than five minutes worth. I had to rub very hard to get the dried grout off. On the flip side, the nice aspect of drying fast is that the grout stays in the grooves while you're wiping; it doesn't pull out like other grout does when you're using a sponge. You don't use a sponge at all. You wipe it off and it's done. There is no going back hours later to wipe off a haze.

Whatever they're adding to make it stain proof also makes very hard to apply (like you're working with playdoo), and even harder to clean up. Normal grout is cleaned up with a wet sponge. When that didn't work, we turned to a kitchen scrub sponge. When that didn't work we turned to Goo-Gone. Finally we had to use a razor to remove the excess, and you had an even chance of pulling the grout out of the lines you've just filled while doing it. What should have been an easy wipe in and wipe off took 2 hours to clean up a simple marble backsplash - longer than it took to install the backsplash tile itself!! Totally NOT recommended!

Material is heavily sanded which makes it very difficult to spread evenly into 1/8" or smaller grout lines (should be labeled as such). Set-up is also very fast which means you can only work a very small section at a time before having to seriously scrub tiles to get it off the surface. Which equates to more time to complete the job in the long run. Though not a pro, have done several DYI tile projects before and this just didn't work for me - ended up pulling it out of the 4' section and will start over with regular grout + sealer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Purchase! Brian at the Bellevue Home Depot recommended me this stuff. He must get a kick back for it is the worse stuff made. IT DOES STAIN! IT WASHES AWAY! iT LOOKS LIKE CRAP and has not even been a year on kitchen counters. When I went back to Home Depot I told another worker about it, and he said he would NEVER use on kitchen counters. Thanks Brian, I now need to remove the gout again. I hope no one hires you for doing their kitchen or bathroom.
