I’ve been laying tiles down in sections over the past few weeks. Rain is now expected, but I’ve not fully completed laying all tiles and grout. If the mortar has had over 1 week to cure, do I need to cover with plastic for rain?

Strong, easy-to-use Thinset mortar used outdoors on heavy stone.
Strong, easy-to-use, reliable. Had to re-secure thick bluestone (1"+) tiles on outdoor patio. Online videos suggested (1)application to receiving base, (2) back-buttering tiles, (3) pressing into place, and (4) immediately re-lifting tiles (to check/ensure 90% coverage on each tile,) before quickly tamping down into place. Product spread easily with 1/2" notch trowel. Had to be quick to do the check on each stone, because this product sets quickly and very firmly. 6 months later, in spring after tough Adirondack winter, the patio looks terrific. Recommend.

                    Great for Terrazzo tile
Applied this under our 24”x24” Terrazzo tile and it came out great. Forgiving yet solid. No issues whatsoever

Did not change the color of my marble!
I previously used the regular Versabond LFT for another marble tile project I did and although I bought white, it still slightly grayed my marble. I tried this version for natural stone for my marble backsplash, just out of curiosity. And to my surprise, it did not change the marble AT ALL! Pics are of me holding loose tiles to those already set on my wall with this thinset and of the difference between tiles set with mastic (tried that first to avoid mixing) and this thinset.

                        A must for large tile
We did a shower surround with vertically stacked 12x24 tiles and after doing some research this was the mortar to use. We had absolute no issues with mixing, applying and curing. Fully recommend for large tile.

                          Great quality but pricey
I used to work on construction 10 years ago and they used to buy thin-set for much less but it worked great on my project. Better spend more than regret later. You put tile not really often so quality is the most important

This "medium bed", "polymer modified" mortar cracks
Lay about a half-inch layer of this product to level the edges of a 5-foot-wide space with floor slightly bulging in the middle. This situation prevents using self-leveling compounds, which would leak through the edges to the basement. Product label says it can be laid up to 3/4 inch think. Mine was 1/2 inch maximum. Covered installation with plastic so that it retains moisture. It was done over WonderBoard. In 2 weeks, layer developed a web of cracks. This is supposedly "polymer modified", mixed and laid by the book, but acts like cheap thinset. Save yourself the trouble, buy regular medium bed from Mapei and a latex polymer additive, that way you know you have a flexible underlayment and won't fall victim to manufacturer's cost-cutting practices. Now I have to go waste my time buying latex additive, for a product that was supposed to be crack-free to begin with.
