How can this product be removed after drying?

you can do it either manually - chip it away with a hammer or such, or chemically such as https://www.homedepot.com/p/SAKRETE-28-oz-Concrete-Mortar-Dissolver-65510207/204675360 that being, said if you have a whole lot to do, i would just crack it off or even use a saw to cut the mortar to make breaking it off easier. its basically like cement. just depends on what your goal is.

Great quality but pricey
I used to work on construction 10 years ago and they used to buy thin-set for much less but it worked great on my project. Better spend more than regret later. You put tile not really often so quality is the most important

This "medium bed", "polymer modified" mortar cracks

Lay about a half-inch layer of this product to level the edges of a 5-foot-wide space with floor slightly bulging in the middle. This situation prevents using self-leveling compounds, which would leak through the edges to the basement. Product label says it can be laid up to 3/4 inch think. Mine was 1/2 inch maximum. Covered installation with plastic so that it retains moisture. It was done over WonderBoard. In 2 weeks, layer developed a web of cracks. This is supposedly "polymer modified", mixed and laid by the book, but acts like cheap thinset. Save yourself the trouble, buy regular medium bed from Mapei and a latex polymer additive, that way you know you have a flexible underlayment and won't fall victim to manufacturer's cost-cutting practices. Now I have to go waste my time buying latex additive, for a product that was supposed to be crack-free to begin with.

Used it in my Pool

I had some natural stone tiles that were coming off in my pool steps. I looked around for thinset/mortar that can be used underwater and it would last. I drained the pool, gave enough time to dry the area. apply the mortar as thinset and as grout. Going to wait about 14 days before I add water back in. You can see the image. I used it on my first two steps.

For regular porcelain 12x12 tiles I normally use Versabond thin-set (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Custom-Building-Products-VersaBond-Gray-50-lb-Fortified-Thin-Set-Mortar-MTSG50/100162542); however, when it came time to renovate the basement in my recently purchased house my wife decided that normal tiles were not good enough for her. Instead she purchased a mix of 12" x 48" tile for the main room as well as slate pieces for the closet. The more economical mortar are not rated for either large tile nor stone which necessitated an upgrade to this premium mortar. Though it is twice as expensive, I only expect to do the job once and wanted a quality application. This product did not disappoint, it worked perfectly. It was easy to mix with an attachment to a drill and applied smoothly. It held both the stone and oversized tiles quite well with no separation or surfacing.

HD employee recommended this for hanging large format natural stone on a vertical surface. I've done large tile on floors and small tile on verticals for backsplash, but had never done large tile on a vertical. Was using this on 12"x24" slate tiles over a brick fireplace facade, so I was a little nervous the tiles would not stay put. Be sure to mix this pretty thick per instructions, use the recommended 1/2x1/2 notched trowel, and it works very well. The tiles did not move and set up very quickly once pressed in place.
