Does it matter which color i choose? I have white tiles. If i use gray would it make the tile look darker?

Asked by Fatema June 4, 2021

Always use thinset color that is closest to the grout color, with the exception of natural stones, which always should use white modified thinset. Glazed tile will not turn darker by using grey Thinset

I have not used it on marble tile, but if the manufacture says a polymer-modified mortar is acceptable, then this will work fine. Be sure to use tile levelers on any flooring application.

By far the best
I have done numerous fireplaces, backsplashes and other renovations in the home and this product is the only thing i will use. It does what it claims to do, has a good price, and is easy to work with. For stone of all types its awesome. No sag, no slip, dries hard as rock! Make the consistency like a thick milkshake from Wendy’s, trowel on wall, butter the stone to be used, press together and all done. Couldn’t be happier. Be sure to use white instead of grey if using with/on lighter stone/tiles..

This recommended to me by various pro contract guys .. Used in outside application 24x24 porcelain tile over water/crack membrane and for vertical veneer stone on a porch/step. (freeze/thaw) Easy to use, spread, mixes well and sticks like crazy to everything ! It sais GRAY but reality is light TAN (sand beach) in color. - That worked out good for the veneer. It suggests 36 sqft per bag with large notch trowel but found that to be a little short more like 32 sqft. (with no waste). Its not cheap stuff but then the tiles are expensive and I only want to do this once. Based on initial install no problem in achieving 95%+ coverage with back butter - first time around. I found I needed to clean the trowel regular .. (proverbial brown stuff to a blanket). My main problem is its not avlb locally in gray (tan) so had to travel 45 miles to get it .. had to go back again as I found I needed more to complete the job (see capacity). It is avlb for ship to store local but takes 2 weeks !! . (locally I did pick a bag of white and added some concrete color die - that turned out correct grey for the tile). That all said - its my new "go to" mortar - esp. for veneer stone.. Its the best mortar I've used. Hope it holds in MI winters. Overall I rate it at 4.5 .. it would be a 5 if color and capacity were as stated.

Worked very well laying tile for my first time. Easy to mix, simple to use, sets really nice. Will purchase again for my next project! Gray was cheaper than the white as well, matching these perfectly.
