How do you cut this trim to length?

Asked by HandyMan45 May 22, 2021
1
Answer

You can use power tools to cut this material but I found using a hack saw and going nice and slow was better for me so I wouldn’t scratch it up!

Do they make a 90 degree corner?

Asked by David April 20, 2021
1
Answer

Very few companies do, most tile installers cut at a 45 degree and install.

do they make corner pieces?

Asked by joe April 14, 2021
1
Answer

No they do not, to go around corners you can cut a 45 degree angle on the edging trim with a miter saw with a blade for cutting aluminum, a hacksaw and a miter box or a angle grinder with a thin metal blade for aluminum. There are videos on the internet that show each of these styles for cutting tile edging trim.

can you order the trim piece longer than what's in the store?

Asked by 1984 October 17, 2020
1
Answer

No. You will have to buy two pieces. And then, cut the second piece to fit the extra length. It's not unusual to have to cut to fit multiple pieces along a length or at a corner.

Answer

These trim pieces work well but you'll need to anticipate their installation, the trim is secured between the tile and the adhesive. Can't be installed after the tile has been attached.

What is the minimum bend radius? I need to go around a corner with a 3-inch radius and I assume the perforated track has to be cut to allow bending.

Asked by TimC July 15, 2020

Answer

The unique design of the tile trims allow you to snip or cut the perforated track, which then allows a reasonable bend radius without buying perforated or pre cut metal.

Asked by Anthony April 16, 2020

Answer

The 3/8 dimension in the name of this edging refers to the thickness of the tile it it intended for. You can use this for a 1/4" thick tile, but the edge will be taller than the thickness of the tile. It would look and little better if you use something closer to 1/4" or perhaps 5/16". The grout will fill the gap, but it will be taller than the tile. Hopes this answers your question.

Can I use aviations snips to cut this?

Asked by Bennnny March 31, 2020

Answer

It will bend and not give a nice straight line. Also a good chance the tile will not fit into the grove. hacksaw or small grinder works well.

Does this come in 10ft

Asked by Rebecca March 21, 2020

Answer

No, it does not come in 10 ft.

We used these on the edge of our kitchen tiles and bathroom tub tiles. They are relatively easy to cut with a hack saw and are easy to install. Just use premixed (or mixed) mud and place on wall and set the piece into the mud and put a small mount over the inside edge and set the tile. I installed in our house and for my friend's house. Worked great!

went with a full remodel of the bath and love using tile edge trim, it allows me many more choices of edge finish and different tiles that do not have a finished edge. since it is made of aluminum we used a miter saw to cut the edges and angles, it dose help to tape it in place sometimes while tiling to keep it from moving. love the finished look!
