To start, this plug is pretty small. We got it for the bathtub, it fits. The bathroom sink, well, the water will drain. Back to the bathtub. It is smaller than the hole but will still hold the water. My husband has RA, that is why we got with the long chain. He says the chain is slippery in the water, so he has to play with it to unplug. The plug is super light so any movement will cause it to move. I think this plug might be good for a laundry room

I received a stopper with a chain and tested it on my laundry tub. The good news is it fits the drain as the pictures shows. It prevented the water from draining but after I filled the tub with water about 1 inch deep and left to do other chores, I came back and there was less water in the bottom of the tub. This is not a scientific measurement of how fast it leaked water. After less than an hour there was noticeably less water in the bottom. This style of stopper will not work in a standard bathroom sink since the drain is too close to the back wall of the sink. You need a large flat area for the stopper to sit flush to the bottom of the tub to ensure the sidewalls of the sink does not prop the stopper up to prevent the flush fit against the tub bottom to stop it from draining.
