A necessity when rebuilding a Delta faucet/shower valve. The existing adjusting rings have knotches that are so worn, the small forked wrench is inadequate to make the adjustment. That is why you should consider buying at least one or more if you are a plumber. WARNING: When doing a rebuild on this faucet/shower valve. Keep the adjusting ring out as counter clock-wise as possible( but not so far out that it falls out) before installing the bonnet nut. When bonnet nut is snug THEN use the forked wrench to turn the adjusting ring clock-wise to apply pressure to the ball, against the washers, until water stops leaking past the washers. Then give it an extra 1/4 turn clock wise. PS: It helps to use silicon grease on the ball, washers.
