The DANCO Shower Volume Control Valve is designed to help you save water when your shower is in use. This diverter allows for the water supply volume to be turned down at the showerhead. Turn the knob to slow the flow of water while you lather up, shave, or wash your hair. When the water is turned down to a dribble, it does offer the benefit of keeping your water warm while the shower is in use. The valve fits between the shower's head and arm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great control This installed relatively easily. The first attempt, I did not apply enough plumber white tape. It leaked at the joints. I removed it and the tape I had put on. Then I added twice the amount of tape and, voila, no more leaks. That's4 months ago and still no problems. To those who have had leak problems, I suggest you try what I did, it works. I use the shut off to stop the flow of water while I soap up. Thus I run very little water to shower. Here in California, we are in a serious drought. This little value helps me pay attention to not wasting water. I recommend all install these and then use them. Be sure to leave valve open when you shut off the water after your showers, to reduce the pressure in the supply line.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Plastic is not a good idea Worked fine for a few months then the seal around the shutoff failed. Wet the entire bathroom. I suggest an all-metal valve.

Returned to store and got a metal one, PartsmasterPro TR2, part #58517 for a couple dollars more. That one works good. I like that they not only turn the water off, but can adjust anywhere between full flow and off.
