Q:I installed this 4 years or so ago it worked great to start put haven?t used it much for 3 years and now I can?t get it to slide completely to plug. How do you fix this

Q:I installed a new drain assembly with this stopper 2 years ago in our second bathroom that barely gets used and now the thing is stinking terribly if had it in and out several times tried adjusting but nothing seem to work. What am I doing wrong

Q:Will this work in a 1 1/2? pipe? I bought the brass on put it in adjusted the height to where I ran out of thread on the adjustment and it still does not shut off water draining from the tub.

First, it WILL NOT WORK IN AN OLDER TUB! OK, my Jacuzzi Tub is 28 years old, has a 1 1/2" pipe and this will not work. DO YOUR HOMEWORK; TAKE THE DRAIN LINKAGE OUT, CHECK THE DIAMITER OF THE PLUG. In my case, it was plastic and had become worn from friction of the plug and the pipe. I took a micrometer to mine and after much measuring that the this is a one off type of plug, tapered with a lip on the top at about a 30 degree lip at the top to seat the plug. Basically 1.275", based on best guess because of the wear. Yes, I am going to take my micrometer to HD & check HD selection to get the closest to the correct plug. Plus the length of this plug is less than my current plug by 1/4". Lathe & milling machine time, I'm going to make one out of Delrin, estimated time, 30 min. to an hour. In short this one cannot be modified to work for my drain & other Linkage. Assemblies. Drain Plugs are of different shapes and designs see photo. As for recommend, sure if this is what your tub drain plug looks like (the Brass one).

Too big for the hole that the old one fit...
Too big for the hole that the old one fit through. It looked similar in size when I bought it, but I couldn’t get it through the hole no matter how often I tried.
