i have a under mount kitchen sink that when it was installed the installer did not use sealant and when washing dishes water goes through crevice between sink and counter and pots and pans get wet. this was a while back and cannot find the installer. some dampness and mold is underneath the kitchen cabinets where sink is located. Can I seal underneath with silicone caulk or what can I use, to ensure it will seal.
Asked by: Nilda
The undercount should be caulked with 100% clear silicone from the top. Ensure the surfaces are very clean before application. Cut a very small tip off the caulk tube and run a small bead over the crevice. Tool the caulk in with your finger and let dry.

can this be used to seal the drywall to the tiles around my fireplace?

Asked by: flipflopsforever
If you mean applying a bead of caulk 1/8 to 1/2 in thickness around the perimeter of the tiles to hide gaps then yes, you can do this.

When applying White Acrylic Latex Plus Silicone Caulk to a recently painted white baseboard do I need to paint the caulk?
Asked by: Sue
I would use dap alex fast dry in this situation. But yes, you can cut in with a brush, baseboard first, than wall. The cutting in will hide the caulk and create that seamless look. Also, the caulk can yellow over time and will really show on the baseboard.

What do you do when the calking cracks after you used it according to directions?

We also used the dap 35 year warranty and calked our whole house and then painted, days later, checking for touch up spots all the calking seemed to have shrunk, now we have to recalk and paint again, we don't want to use the same product again, we are out hundreds of dollars and I took the week off work to paint, now it's all for nothing.
Asked by: Snappy
Same thing happened to me and their warranty is useless I hope the attorney general stops them from offering these fake "30 yr warranty"

10.1 oz. Alex Fast Dry White Acrylic Latex Plus Silicone Caulk is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 91.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from No I have used this product recently and for the speed of the caulk drying to be able to paint is great. My biggest problem was I had to caulk a basement remodel with new trim and doors, 3 times because every time I finished caulking and would come back to paint it was all cracking. Even 3 coats of caulk and it still cracked. So I changed it out to another kind

PROS - Fast dry time CONS - Cracks quickly in climate sensitive areas like windows & doors. - Kept coming out of the tube almost 3 minutes after removing it from the gun. Same happened on three different days. If you have a very thin area to caulk (1/16", no more than 1/8"), it should do fine but only in areas not affected too much by temperature. Stay away from areas like close to heater, a/c, doors & windows. I had brought only 2 tubes to try out. After using about 1/2 of the 1st tube, I trashed the remainder out as well as the 2nd tube.

This will not hold up in areas exposed to water or dampness. However, I love this for caulking around all the moldings throughout my house when I'm prepping to paint trim. It applies easily, clean-up is a breeze, and it holds up well. It does dry fast and is easy to sand and paint.

Just a bit more expensive than the standard Alex caulk, but with a faster dry time. This was beneficial when I needed to touch up some caulking before painting later that day. It was nice to have the quick dry time. Good, but only spend the extra when it is really needed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Easy To Use Save yourself and use a caulk gun. We had previously caulked our house with the Alex caulk gun caulk and it worked GREAT! this squeezable tube is worthless. Hard to squeeze out and the coverage isnt as good as using the Alex intended for a gun. Will not buy again.
