DAP HIGH HEAT FIRE RESISTANT MORTAR is a non-combustible silicate cement for applications in wood frame construction where an ASTM E136 non-combustible sealant is required, such as filling around vents, pipes, ducts and chimneys at ceiling and/or floor level prior to the application of drywall products and would not be appropriate for the application as described. DAP HIGH HEAT FIRE RESISTANT MORTAR is a non-combustible silicate cement for applications in wood frame construction where an ASTM E136 non-combustible sealant is required, such as filling around vents, pipes, ducts and chimneys at ceiling and/or floor level prior to the application of drywall products. While this product can also be used for minor wood burning stove and fireplace applications/repairs, when fully dried/cured, it is not flexible. The expansion/contraction that may occur when applied to long joints/seams in metal, may cause cracking/loss of performance. Additionally, if applied to glass, it can etch the surface and be impossible to remove.
