Product Overview

Daptex Plus is designed to meet the tough standards demanded for professional window and door installations while effectively filling and sealing large cracks, gaps and voids. Unlike polyurethane foams, it will not over expand, is toolable, moldable and cleans up easily with water. It remains soft and flexible when dry so it will not bow, buckle or distort frames. The innovative latex polymer foam technology provides water resistance and is paintable with latex paints once cured. Daptex Plus helps reduce energy loss as well as pest infiltration and is ideal for sealing air leaks to improve energy efficiency and reduce heating and cooling costs.

Great clean up!
Not sure why people have issues with this product because it is great! I followed the typical directions.... SHAKE WELL.... made sure surfaces were clean and applied. Used my fingers as putty knife and then cleaned up with water. The other brand you need gloves and you need harsh chemicals for clean up. I could clean up can and could use again and the other brand if you are not done in first use the can gets clogged and you can forget using again. I love this. (I do have to note I am using inside between attic and kitchen ceiling.)

It seems great, easy to clean but it's very particular and easy to deflate if not used "right"
I loved it but now I won't buy it again after reading all the fine print. It just isn't like most spray foams, this brand can only be applied in 1in layers, each day! That's a huge difference from a one day project, to a week job. If you avoid the directions and use it in layers (like me, assuming the pictures are accurate) it will deflate (like my photo shows) So if you're window has a 1" tall gap that is 2-3" deep, it's a 3-4 day project. While most spray foams work in layers regardless if you wait or not. The can also doesn't go very far. It took 2-3 cans per window, while most other spray foams are 1 can every 1 1/2 windows (sq footage wise it's just much less). For the cost, reliability, and coverage: Go with a different spray foam because while this is easy to clean up it just isn't worth it

Thank you for posting your feedback. We're sorry to see your low star review on DAPtex Plus Multi-Purpose Foam Sealant. DAPtex Plus is specifically formulated for low pressure/low expansion (for use on surfaces/application where high pressure/over-expansion may result in damage). DAPtex Plus is a latex based chemistry, which means that it should be applied in reasonably warm and dry conditions and where air exchange can occur. Likewise, it is recommended for application in layers, with drying intervals between layers. This recommendation is to ensure consistent drying/performance development. As indicated on the package label and Technical Data Bulletin: "Tack free in 10 minutes. A one-inch bead fully cures in 24 hours depending on bead size, temperature and humidity" and "Not recommended for use at or below grade, or for closed cavities. For gaps more than 2” deep, use multiple layers of 1”-2” each." Of note, when cured, DAPtex Plus has sponge-like consistency (not a rigid texture as with other foam formulas). Because you did not provide any details regarding your project or application conditions, it is difficult to provide you with a more specific reply or product usage guidance in this format. DAP offers a full range of both one and two component foam products. At your convenience, please contact DAP's Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477 so that we can obtain some additional information from you regarding your project requirements, so that we can recommend an alternative product more in line with your needs/expectations. Foam is ok. Applicator is terrible. Do not buy.
The foam it puts out is ok, but the applicator is terrible. The tube is not attached to the spout, and there's less than 1/8 inch of spout lip holding it. The tube keeps popping off while spraying form or trying to get the tube back into cracks. Trust me, when the tube pops off while you're spraying, you've got a huge mess on your hands. For those of you asking where the tube is after you bought it, the answer is it's probably fallen off during shipping or while sitting on the shelf. It's attached to the side of the can with a single trip of tape. There are other products that have the tube securely attached to the spout. Look for them. Don't buy this.

        Very different material
Never saw this before and spotted it on the shelf in with the caulking material. Thought I would give it a try. It comes out very airy, or a little watery can't tell for sure. Once I had it where I wanted it (It didn't seem to want to drip or run either) it spread very easily with a putty knife. Don't know how much it will expand if at all, but it did the job I wanted it to do.

          Fiddlesticks!
After a week, had the surface rigidity of cotton candy! And the insiside was hollow and wet! Being as soft as it was, I did not bother to scoop it out; Instead I just poked the straw of "Great Stuff in it to refill the floor gaps. I was baited by the "water clean up". Of course it is water clean up, it is shaving cream.

Thank you for posting your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your experience with DAPtex Plus Multi-Purpose Foam Sealant. DAPtex Plus is a latex based chemistry, which means that it should be applied in reasonably warm and dry conditions and where air exchange can occur, as it sole drying mechanism is evaporation. As indicated on the package label and Technical Data Bulletin: "Tack free in 10 minutes. A one-inch bead fully cures in 24 hours depending on bead size, temperature and humidity". Based on your commentary that: "After a week, had the surface rigidity of cotton candy! And the insiside was hollow and wet!", it is very likely that the product was applied under less than ideal conditions. At your convenience, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477 so that we can obtain some additional information from you regarding your project. DAP

Garbage. Applied as directed. First rain it washes away. Clumps. I've applied this stuff twice, same results. States it's water resistant on the can. Picture shows product after 3 months installed.

              Does what it says.
I like this product. It is certainly different than the solvent based products. Much softer when dry with the consistency of a loaf of soft bread. I used both the DAP and other products on my project with different results. The project was overhead, filling gaps behind the HVAC registers and tapering for smoother airflow. It was also to keep out bugs that crawl through the cracks. The DAP foam was much easier to apply and stayed where I put it. Though its not sticky, when you apply it, it stays. The other product wanted to fall out, and then trying to caress it back in place didn't work as it then stuck to whatever I was using to try to push it back up. As the project was overhead, the DAP worked better as the can does not need to be held upside down like others. It does take longer to dry (two days for me), but once dry provided a finish like the top of baked bread instead of the lumpy bumpy finish of the other. But the DAP is not as structurally sound once dry. You can easily poke a finger into it or pull it out. I'd estimate that its about 4 times softer than a solvent based product. If you need sturdy, you're better off with something else. It tooled fine once dry. But let it dry completely or you'll make a mess. Water cleanup was great. No need for acetone. Overall, I'd like to see this stuff dry up to a sturdier end product, but it seems to be holding up fine so far.

Does exactly what it is supposed to do.
This product works great. It is NOT to replace super expanding rigid foam. This is to be used more as an expanding CAULK. We use it when replacing panels and electrical boxes. Fills gaps too big for caulk and too small for other foams.Super easy clean up.
