Bought this product to fill in some holes on pressure treated wood so that I could reuse on my deck railing. Filled in the holes as directed in the instructions, let cured for more than 48 hours before applying wood stain and sealant. Applied stain and sealant and let dry for another 36 hours at least. Then rain came. See pictures of how the filler just popped up and did not stay in place. Not a good product for the my application.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought this wood filler to fill in the corners... I bought this wood filler to fill in the corners where crown molding connects. I have put up crown molding many, many times and in the past used regular caulking in the corners. What I noticed with the caulk was that after a few months, the corners showed cracking and sinking. I thought I would give the wood putty a try and now my corners are flawless. I get so many compliments on how "clean" a job I do on my crown. This stuff is awesome for that use and I'm sure many other applications. This stuff basically bonds the two pieces together in the corner to look like the corner is one piece. I can't stress enough to use this for crown molding corners or spliced sections.

Worked great and dry time is good. You have a couple minutes to work but starts drying and was paintable within an hour or so. It's best to do small areas at a time. I tried doing a larger area maybe 12x12 and found it tough to manage but working small areas at a time maybe 6x6 worked fine. Yeah I had a lot of filling to do! Actually once I learned how it works went pretty quick probably took me an hour to do all the filling. Went for 32oz not sure how much I needed but only used half of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a review for DAP Plastic Wood 6 oz. Walnut Wood filler. I had 12 3/8" holes that carpent... This is a review for DAP Plastic Wood 6 oz. Walnut Wood filler. I had 12 3/8" holes that carpenter bees had burrowed into my cedar ceiling in an exterior entrance and I used wooden dowels and wood filler to plug them. I also applied the filler into the areas where the bees had burrowed into the wood and made several brooding chambers which were about 2 1/2" long and 3/8" wide (after pressing the wood close to the holes they were evident as they caved in). I used the putty to fill in the chambers once I cleaned them out. It applied easily and although not matching the wood colors because cedar can be a multitude of colors looked OK. It hardened up nicely and I sanded the surfaces to make them even. I am very happy with the results. The one thing of note is that the container is much stouter than you would think and has to be squeezed pretty hard to get the putty out. It's sort of like they overcompensated with the container to make it appear that you're getting more than you actually are. Other than that I can't complain.

If I read the description of the product correctly, it claims not to shrink and to take staining. The non-shrinking claim is mostly correct, but you have to make sure that the cracks you fill are sanded perfectly flat on each side. As to the staining part, be ready to have a very fine paint brush and coat and re-coat within the filler only with your stain of choice: it took 3 applications to obtain the desired color. Note: I found it useful to fill the cracks on the underside to ensure slow and even drying on top.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This putty is water-based and is easy to apply. ... This putty is water-based and is easy to apply. Have used it before with good results. Both thin and thick coats dry rapidly and my thick coats did not experience any cracking. It is very sandable and can be painted. Clean up is with water and even if it gets thick in the container, a little water brings it back to life. Used another 'painters putty' and it never hardened to be able to sand or paint. This stuff is great.

I believe this product best suited for interior applications and recommend using a putty that requires a hardener for wood decks. Badbird

I love this wood filler for paint jobs, it dries fast and is pretty easy to sand. Ive used a lot of it and learned you need to work the wood filler in and get the air out of the hole you are filling for the best job. It can be stained but it still visible to the eye that wood filler is there. Ive used this on furniture and home renovation projects.
