I have a Adirondack chair and one of the slats is rotting, when i went to replace it, the piece that i would screw into is rotten as well, can i use plastic wood to rebuild the piece i need to screw into??
Asked by: peterm
Yes you can. Plastic wood will work very well provided you remove all of the rotten wood in the area that you need to repair. Depending on the size of the damaged area, you may need to apply the plastic wood in several applications to build up the area. Once the damaged area is completely filled/rebuilt, sand it to smooth and pre-drill a whole slightly smaller than your screw. In my experience, it'll hold better than the original wood did. Good luck!
