Q:can you put a hole in aluminum
by|Mar 2, 2021

Answer This Question

A:  I wouldn’t recommend it. You could, but the heads on nail sets spread with use so your holes would get progressively bigger. I would recommend getting a punch or using a nail.

A:  You could use a nail set as a punch for aluminum as long as the aluminum is not to thick. A small drill bit would be needed for any thick material.

A:  yes.

by|Mar 3, 2021

A:  I would not use these to punch holes in anything harder than styrofoam. What you want is something more like a pin punch.

Q:what is the max length of nails I can push with these?

    Answer This Question

A:  These items are finishing carpenters tools. You drive the nail into your work piece with a hammer and then "finish" the job by using the nail set to drive the nail below the surface ..thereby "setting" the nail. Length of remaining nail to drive should be no longer than 1/4" to 3/8"

    by|Sep 19, 2022
    2 found this answer helpful

A:  It is not the length of the nail but the thickness of the nail head that determines which nail set you use. It is so you can set the head of the nail just below the woods surface. For finishing nails only.

    by|Sep 19, 2022

A:  These are just for pushing the head of the nail below the surface of the wood after you drive the nail most of the way in with a hammer. The length of the nail doesn't matter.

A:  No, they are not. I’m curious about what advantage that would provide.

A:  No. But then, nailsets aren't meant to be magnetic. They are meant to drive a finish nail below the wood surface.

A:  If you are asking if these can be used to break automobile glass is no they are not designed for that purpose. They do not come to a point and are not very heavy so you would have to hit the glass really hard to get it to break.

A:  These are nail punches...solid steel. I believe what you are referring to is an auto-punch, which these are not. But yes, this will break a window, just like any other piece of steel would.

A:  We have not tested the 1/32 in., 2/32 in., 3/32 in. Bi-Material Nail Set (3-Piece) as a window puncher.

A:  Not sure I understand what you mean, can you explain what you want to do with this?

                        by|May 6, 2023

A:  These are small, precision tools intended to set finishing nails and to make small indents in wood and metal for locating drill bits. If your looking for a tool to break glass in an emergency, these would not be a good choice.

In the past I’ve bought the cheeper version and this time I was glad I spent a little more these feel better in your hands and are larger so you can drive nails in with confidence the added protection helps protect your hand and larger size just worked better for me compared to past experiences

I wish I bought the ones without a sleeve. I used it for less than a dozen nails and the sleeve is slowly moving down. It still works, but for how much longer.

this nailset product is great.it is at a vary good and fair price for what your getting. you can buy cheaper nail sets but they don't come with the rubber molding like these do. all in all you can go wrong with this, it is definitely a must have have for me.
