You could use a nail set as a punch for aluminum as long as the aluminum is not to thick. A small drill bit would be needed for any thick material.
yes.
I wouldn’t recommend it. You could, but the heads on nail sets spread with use so your holes would get progressively bigger. I would recommend getting a punch or using a nail.
I would not use these to punch holes in anything harder than styrofoam. What you want is something more like a pin punch.
These items are finishing carpenters tools. You drive the nail into your work piece with a hammer and then "finish" the job by using the nail set to drive the nail below the surface ..thereby "setting" the nail. Length of remaining nail to drive should be no longer than 1/4" to 3/8"
These are just for pushing the head of the nail below the surface of the wood after you drive the nail most of the way in with a hammer. The length of the nail doesn't matter.
It is not the length of the nail but the thickness of the nail head that determines which nail set you use. It is so you can set the head of the nail just below the woods surface. For finishing nails only.

No, they are not. I’m curious about what advantage that would provide.
No. But then, nailsets aren't meant to be magnetic. They are meant to drive a finish nail below the wood surface.
We have not tested the 1/32 in., 2/32 in., 3/32 in. Bi-Material Nail Set (3-Piece) as a window puncher.
Not sure I understand what you mean, can you explain what you want to do with this?
These are small, precision tools intended to set finishing nails and to make small indents in wood and metal for locating drill bits. If your looking for a tool to break glass in an emergency, these would not be a good choice.
If you are asking if these can be used to break automobile glass is no they are not designed for that purpose. They do not come to a point and are not very heavy so you would have to hit the glass really hard to get it to break.
These are nail punches...solid steel. I believe what you are referring to is an auto-punch, which these are not. But yes, this will break a window, just like any other piece of steel would.
Concave. It's like half a sphere inside.
yes they are concave

Yes, the tip is indented to catch the finish nail head & try not to slip off. Does as decent a job as any nail-set.
