Q:Will this easily charge the Dewalt 20v batteries, or should I go bigger than 1,000w?
by|Nov 23, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hi Ryan, Don't use an inverter to charge the 20 volt Dewalt batteries, this is a better choice and less expensive: https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-20-Volt-Max-Lithium-Ion-Vehicle-Battery-Charger-DCB119/202922420

Q:Can i charge my electric bicycle with this device ??

      Answer This Question

A:  This power inverter provides a maximum of 1000 watts continuous AC-current to most electrical appliances within this power rating. We recommend the appliance does not exceed this power rating and inquiring with the appliance manufacturer if is compatible to operate from a modified sine wave power inverter.

This inverter came in clutch during a power outage when all the generators were sold out. I ran it directly from my car and it saved about 2 weeks of groceries in my fridge/freezer, a couple LED lights, the venter motor on my hot water heater, a laptop and wifi router. * be sure the alternator & battery on your vehicle can handle the inverter

        crap dont buy
Crap unit had a few of these over time. They all break. Recent one was only used to charge a laptop. So I posit up to see what was wrong. All the internal parts are crap. Not a quality build at all. Has an internal fuse that is NOT replaceable. Cant see why they are charging $150 for this. When $20 dollar units are made with the same internal parts

          They didn't read the manual
I agree with the other 5 star rater - the consumers who claim this product doesn't work didn't read the box probably, which states that you can only get 240 watts if it's connected to the cigarette lighter adapter. Just use the battery terminal clamps and connect to the car battery direct and it works as advertised. I am using it to power a 600 watt microwave oven without any trouble, to heat food and water.

Excellent power inverter for the price. Don't listen to bad reviews. Most of the bad reviews are from those that do not set up properly, are using appliances with too much current draw for this product, or do not have the inverter hooked up properly. * To get the maximum 2000W peak / 1000W sustained rating, you must connect this inverter directly to your 12V power source (Meaning, NOT with the 12V cigarette lighter adapter). In the box, DeWalt provides 3 ways to power this unit: 1. 12V cigarette lighter adapter (the socket inside a vehicle). If you use this connection, you are limited to only 140W of power. You could charge your phone, tablet, even a laptop with this connection but not much else. 2. Alligator clamp connection. This method allows for a temporary way to connect to a 12V source, whether you are out in the field or on the go. Very convenient. Note: the wires are 8 AWG on this connection. I point this out because on the permanent connection wires provided, the gauge is clearly larger. 3. Permanent connection. The two (short) wires (appear to be 4 AWG or 6 AWG) come with connectors already attached at both ends to allow to connect to a battery. I opted to use this method, but since the battery in my work vehicle is under the hood, I had to purchase some longer cables to I could run the wires through the firewall of my vehicle (I used a pair of jumper cables, just cut off the clamps and attached proper connectors). The unit is extremely quiet. The fans will come on if needed, but only for a short time. When the fans run, they are very quiet - no annoying buzzing or high pitched whine. This product is fantastic and works exactly as described. Buy with confidence. Finally, there are 2 last things to note. They are not cons or bad in any way, so no marks deducted. But you should consider before buying: 1. The two 120V outlets are very close together. Not really a big deal, but it might be difficult if you're using blocky wall-wart style plugs common with phone chargers and other small electronics. A small extension cord will alleviate this issue. The 3x USB ports also help with this issue. Huge bonus that the USB ports can deliver up to 3.1A of current, I have confirmed this with a Samsung fast charger. SEE PICTURE 2. When connecting directly to a 12V power source: The connections ON the inverter unit are not exactly standard. If you intend to use your own cables or longer cables, it may be tricky to get your own connectors to fit inside the positive/negative terminals on the inverter. SEE PICTURE. Since I needed longer cables to run through the firewall of my work vehicle, I used the existing connectors on the other end of the included alligator clamp wires. I just cut off the clamps, secured the new longer cables, and added connectors for the battery terminals.

I got this to make my car a source of emergency electricity for our fridge since we have frequent power outages where I live. The fact that it includes 3.1 amp (the highest I've seen) USB ports really increases versatility. I have several lights and all my phones and cameras charge via USB, so this is a value-added feature. The inverter has a back-lit screen and even tells you the wattage being drawn which would help you know if you are stressing your car's system too much.

The Dewalt 1000 watt Power Inverter can be used on the jobsite, camping or anywhere there is no AC power available. All you need is a 12volt battery. The inverter can be hooked up to the battery in 3 different ways. The first way is through the cigarette lighter. If you use that method you can only use up to 140 watts of power. The other 2 ways are the best ways and they are to hook the inverter directly to the battery. Included with the inverter are cables that hook to the battery. There are also clamps that also can be connected to the inverter. Solid connections can be made from the rear of the inverter using all 3 methods of connecting to the 12v power source. The inverter has 2 AC outlets and 3 USB outlets. The LCD screen lets you know if your connections are wrong. I have used the inverter on a camping trip to run my radio after the batteries died. Its also works with my solar generator to give me power after a the lights go out.

This is a well built, quality unit. It is versatile as it comes with three different ways to power it: cigarette lighter style plug, direct connect o-ring style battery terminal connectors, and alligator clip style battery terminal connectors like you would see on jumper cables. It has two 120 A/C connections to plug in whatever you would like and well as USB connections to power phones, tablets and whatever else you would want. It even comes with rubberized feet to mount it. Works great. Seems very rugged.

Dang! Wish I saw the reviews before I bought it.
I haven't had this thing but maybe 3 weeks. Took it out to actually use it for the very first time last night worked for a very short amount of time then "Beep Beep beep". Sounds like that's pretty darn common. Why is it still on the shelf. It would do you guys much better to just have trash on the shelve instead of this garbage.
