I have been looking forward to the DeWalt Planer for a long time and it meets all my expectations.

Reliable machine and great finish
Everything about this planer is robust and easy to operate. The result is great and has little snipe, the handles make it easy to move and the screw remover it comes with even has a magnet to help lift out the blades when you need to change them.

Would love to use it but...
Unfortunately arrived with a small crack in the base, didn’t think it would make a difference. Put the crank on and found the wheel was very hard to turn. Lowered it as far as I could and noticed the unit itself is not parallel with the bed.

It caught fire.
It caught fire the first time I used it. Warranty covered the repair but I haven't gotten back to use it sence.

Great Features, but fills with wood chips
I bought my Dewalt DW735 planer about 8 years ago. I based my purchase on the many reviews that were posted at that time. It was rated one of the best if not the best planers. In the first 6 years I used it mostly in the winter months in my basement part-time. I am retired 2 years now and I regret buying it. Because I'm using it more often, I need to take the cover off and suck out all the accumulated wood chips that build up inside (see attached photos). Before, I didn't use it as much and it wasn't such an issue as it is now. The features and performance are great! Replacing the blades are a snap. The build up inside is ridiculous!! I've used it with and without my dust collector and it doesn't make any difference. I discussed this with my local DeWalt distributor and they are aware of the issue, but there isn't anything that DeWalt will do. It is so frustrating to have to take the cover off and try an remove all the wood chips, plus dig out the compressed chips in and around the chain and chain gears!!!

Best Planer I’ve used.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this 6 months ago because I could not buy a full size. I have never been happier, cuts so clean and smooth and when you change to 196 cuts. It is as smooth as using a scraper. Amazing finish. Use to cut Hardwoods all the time.

Great Product - With a Quirk
Bought this 4 months ago and wish I had bought it sooner. Great surface finish achieved in soft wood and hard woods. Easy to use, reliable and the surface finish you can achieve is amazing. I re-saw hard woods and this planer helps me to achieve a common final thickness for the re-sawn wood.
My only issue the rollers reaction to the cold.
is Dewalt needs to add a note to the instruction manual which explains when the feed rollers get cold, they will no longer grab the boards. I recently spend hours trying to determine what was wrong - finally did a web search and found the information on cold rollers. A small hear on them for a few minutes resolved the problem.

Dust Port not strong / Broke
I would have given 5 stars but fails for two reasons. The Port adapter where you connect the dust collector hose broke where it snaps into place.
The second reason is the exhaust port is in the middle of the unit where the outfeed table is. This may be why my port adapter broke. Note that I support the weight of the hose so this was not a factor in breaking the adapter.
Simply put, the adapter should be made MUCH stronger. See photo for this oversite in how it's made
Otherwise this benchtop unit is Amazing and has more options than most planers on the market
