incredible purchase
I am a landscaper today. I got the hedger and I used to use gas powered ones when I tried this out. This is like nothing I’ve ever worked but it is the best hedger you will ever buy. I’ve been a landscaper for 20 years. This is what you wanna buy And I guarantee you’ll be happy and I used it on a 20 V battery and it ran for two hours. This is better than gas.

Doesn’t have a blade guard
I like the trimmer, decent quality but only 3 stars because there is no blade guard in the box with the new trimmer. On the HD display unit, the blade guard exists. I bought 2 of them and both are missing blade guard. Is it bad batch? Or DeWalt saving pennies on cheap plastic guards?
Another thing is no hole or hook on the blade end (or other side) to store/hang the trimmer

Love the cordless feature!
I have multiple Dewalt corded and 20v tools . Although I am a weekend project guy, my expectations are pretty high. I want the tool to make my job smooth and easier. At first glance seemed a bit heavy with an 5Ah battery attached. I played with couple of different batteries and settled with a low profile 4AH. Blades were sharp. No loose screws, seems solid. Used on several hedges without a problem. Battery life during use was OK. Used about 40 minutes and switched to an new battery. Bought a lexan clear hedge trimmer shield (40"), cut it to fit and attached it to the upper blade. Not sure how Dewalt would feel about the after market attachment but it works great. Trimmed my neighbors bushes in few minutes and clean-up was much easier.
For the weekend Gardner it is great tool.

Great tool. Lightweight and easy to maneuver. For a battery operated trimmer it has plenty of power for your standard at-hole trimming. Already have a few 20v Dewalt tools, so I purchased this trimmer to replace a corded Black & Decker trimmer whose motor gave out.
