You can use it. Left-handed but you retract the blade on the left side of the unit.

how do you remove blade
To remove blades side them out the back of the knife, see my review of the knife with a pic of changing the blade under MikeTheReviewer on the HD product page.
Pull out the belt clip and slide blade holder with blade out that end. Replace the blade and put back together from that end then replace the belt clip

Why can't I find replacement blades in your store?

If you can't find replacement blades in the tool department, go to paint and look with the scrapers. They should have them.

I had no problem finding them in 3 different HD stores. Guess they are popular in your area? They can be ordered on line.
Tom, of course at the time when you were looking for replacement blades in 2015 they may not have been a regular stock item. However, now they are on an in-store display right next to the DeWALT knife itself. Supply doesn't appear to be an issue today, and I've found the knife is a good value.
