This is not a Brushless unit. You may want to take a look at model DCS354B.

will a Oscillating Tool cut a staple / nails?

      Answer This Question

With a metal cutting blade it will. Make sure not to press into the metal object, rather move the blade left and right with light to medium pressure. Let the tool do the work. Also using the tool in this fashion on metal will also help increase the blades lifespan.

Yes , pretty much any metal. But the blade gets worn out very quickly. So I recommend only use it on metal as a last resort.

Yes, it will cut nails and staples with the right metal cutting blade.

Can I use this tool to scrape up 30 year old linoleum flooring? approximately 275 square feet.

You would be better off getting a scraper blade for a reciprocating saw.

I would say that it would take a LOT time to do it with these blades. I would try to start a small with this tool and finish it off using something along the lines of an ice scraper.

Linoleum has asbestos in it. I would not recommend using anything that is going to create a lot of dust. That rules out all power tools.

This tool would not be recommended for that job by the manufacturer DEWALT

Without seeing the size of the mantel it would be hard to answer. The tool does not come with the head I would use which is a carbide cutter that is designed for use on tile grout and ceramic tile. When I think of a stone mantle I would suggest something a little bigger like a hand held jack hammer

I suppose if you had the right masonry blade you could potentially do the job, but you may be better off renting a masonry tool to do something like that.

I haven't tried grout, but is capable of cutting thorough metal and wood with no problem. So I guessing with the right blade is possible.

Hello John Thank you for your contact. We apologize for any trouble or inconvenience in finding information. You would need to purchase a grout removal blade separately, but this tool would be able to remove grout. Best Regard Sherri C DEWALT

Yes, it works great. However it does chew the blades up quickly so make sure have enough on hand before starting.

Youtube videos show the tool, but not in use. Wondering if it will work for a few odd jobs like scraping up adhesives off old linoleum tile, removing cabinet trim pieces, etc.

I would imagine it would be quite useful for scraping adhesive & removing trim. So far I've used mine for trimming existing materials where I couldn't reach with a saw, cutting square notches for around posts (it's great at that!) and trimming softer materials like plastic trim. It's a great tool which I can see it's uses would only be limited by my imagination.

Ive owned and been through many of these types of tools bein in the business, this has great blade lock mechanism and is durable and strong, highly recommend for a mid-level OSC tool. Grade A. tool good for demo of drywall, wood, special carpentry cuts, scaling off glue etc....must have for the tool box.

Many appreciate the variable speed trigger, quick blade change feature, and built-in LED light, which enhance usability. Bought this tool in 2021 for a home wood floor project (put down about 700 SF of engineered hardwood), using it as a secondary tool to cut trim in corners, cut floor vents, notch floor pieces, etc. Now, in the middle using the tool as one of several tools to prep stairs for a remodel, it died. A little over two years old and with use that would amount to one small project for a contractor, all I have left is a DEWALT 120V Corded LED Flashlight.

                                          A well thought out tool
I used this tool to access a leaking drain pipe in the wall under the Kitchen Sink. The variable speed trigger allowed me to eased my way around the plumbing and sink supply lines. The blade clamp made it possible to quickly reposition the blade and fit the tool past pipes, the garbage disposal and dishwasher lines. Last weekend I used a Fein Multi tool to notch laminate flooring. The DeWalt has it beat when it comes to easy blade change and a soft start. I also have Porter Cable that I have used for numerous demo and remodel tasks. It has the same or a very similar blade attachment system. It cost about 1/2 as much but does not have a soft start or variable speed. Given the choice I will use the DeWalt for anything that requires finesse.

                                          Stove replacement - Drop-in to Slide-in
I purchased this tool in order to replace a drop-in stove with a slide-in. This required making some precise cuts in the cabinetry without chipping the laminate counter-top or scuffing the wood finish. I had to cut out the bottom trim boards at the front of the cabinet. I cut those first and learned how best to hold and maneuver the tool. This tool allows you to make initial fine cuts through the finish side which lessens the chance of splintering the finish. The original hole in the counter-top was not exactly 30 inches so I had to trim both sides of it. I cut through the laminate first to reduce the chance of chipping and then cut the remainder of the way through the particle board. The counter-top was a slow go because you want to be careful but this tool got the job done and the installation looks really nice. I also had a couple other issues with this installation which required re-routing a water supply line to the fridge. This tool came in handy for that as well. This tool was a must have for this project and now that I'm familiar with how to use it, I have identified other projects that I have avoided but can tackle now much easier and quicker.
