Product Overview

The DEWALT DXMF01052 Short Cuff Fabricator's Gloves are a premium solution for general purpose metal fabrication and light-duty MIG/TIG welding. These general duty welder's gloves utilize reinforced leather palms and fire resistant fabrics on the back and cuff to provide you with serious heat protection without sacrificing dexterity. This allows for easier, more precise equipment control during welds and metalworking that leads to a cleaner result. Durable Kevlar threading on the palm and throughout the entire glove resists heat and won't burn or melt during long use. The palm of the glove is further reinforced by additional layers of leather at high-abrasion locations like the thumb saddle and along the side of the hand with a drag patch for a truly long wearing glove. For additional protection from the bumps often encountered when welding and working with heavy metal parts, the knuckles feature cotton-padded impact guards. The long, short, work glove style cuffs have adjustabel hook and loop closures for a snug, secure fit that is easy to put on and remove, stays securely in place while you work and keeps out dirt, metal shavings and welding debris.
  • Leather palm - leather palm provides maximum abrasion resistance without sacrificing dexterity
  • Fire resistant materials: made of fire resistant materials to protect you from open flames, sparks, slag and spall
  • Kevlar threading - glove features heat and fire resistant Kevlar stitching throughout the entire glove
  • Knuckle guard - additional, fire-resistant cotton padding provide increased impact protection for the knuckles
  • Reinforced wear points - leather reinforcing along the thumb saddle, palm, finger caps and a drag patch for long glove life
  • Adjustable wrist - snug-fitting elasticized wrist has an adjustable hook and loop closure to keep out dirt and welding debris

Note: I'm not using these for metal fabrication. I don't mess around too much with metal work, but I could see where these would be good gloves for dealing with the sharp edges of sheet metal. They have nice thick leather pads on the palm and around the finger tips. I use them when I'm using tools around yard, and they really save a lot of wear and tear on my hands. The wrist is somewhat elastic, and has a velcro closure that ensures that dirt and debris stay out of the glove. The gloves are very comfortable, and do a pretty good job wicking sweat away from my hands without becoming soggy. The only drawback I've noted so far is that the black dye comes off onto your hands after wearing them for a while (but it washes off after a shower). You may want to try a size larger than normal--I don't have especially large hands, but I got these in XL and they fit quite comfortably without being too large.

I got the gloves and they are really made well and they have been a blessing to me because they protect my hands from the weeds and brush that I pick up when i use them to do some light yard work. I have had them for 10days and have used them three times already. these gloves are made well and i sincerely expect them to last me a long long time. you should get a pair for yourself if you are doing any yard work!

DEWALT Metal Fabricator's Gloves are well made gloves. Thick but comfortable leather with strong stitching and zip locks. The tips are even thicker then the glove itself. These gloves are not welding gloves, But could be use for light welding. They are great for handling metal and can be used when operating tools and equipment like chop saws, table shears metal brakes, wrenches and hammers. I hope this helps with your decision. Good luck with all your projects.

This is my second set of these DEWALT MEDIUM SHORT CUFF METAL FABRICATORS GLOVES IN BLACK and I will say they are the most protective, long-lasting and well made fabricators gloves out there. I use them for welding and also in my construction business for heavy demolition work when I need to protect my hands from sharp edges, splintering wood and nails. These gloves are heat proof and yet, you can bend and move your fingers freely. I highly recommend these gloves and personally will only use these, especially when welding.

These are a very comfortable fit glove meant for metal work. They are reinforced in the proper areas, and are supposed to be fire resistant. The can be used for welding, but do realize they are not long and do not cover your lower arm at all. The reinforcement makes these good for working with metal and keeping your hands safe from cuts. These are supple enough to make it easy for you to grab and actually know what you are holding. Now on the inverse of these qualities, the suppleness and comfort could mean these may not last as long as one would hope, but if you limit yourself to actual metal work with them they will treat your hands very well..

These DeWalt gloves are very comfortable to wear. The palms are very supportive. There is a solid feel because of the use of thick leather. It is good for metal work and some welding. The material is very tough and the stitching is top notch. The fire resistant material protects from open flame, sparks, slag and spall. The goatskin is smooth and strong. The velcro wrist straps keep the gloves securely in place.

Solid set of gloves for fabricating and light duty work. The goatskin outer shell is nice and flexible and breathes well. The palm and inside fingers are coated with a flexible rubber material which is great for grip. The gloves fit my hands well for a large and the velcro strap cinches down easily. These gloves are not meant for heavy duty work like carrying debris and cinder block. These gloves are made in Indonesia

I got the DEWALT Medium Short Cuff Metal Fabricator's Gloves in Black as I like checking out new work gloves. The gloves are flexible but still vary protective. When looking cut metal working gloves that are cut resistant, most you will find just have a single layer of leather or rubber to protect your hands. These are what I would call a double life glove, as their is a second layer of leather over the spots that typically tend to wear faster then others on work gloves. I know this as I worked in a GE transformer plant's metal shop many years ago, and we really went through a lot of gloves. So from the design of these tough gloves I would give them a A+ for use in a metal working shop. They are fire resistant, how ever I am not sure if they are thick enough for use in a welding shop.

I got these work gloves to try them out. They seem to be sized correctly and fit nicely. They allow me to pick things up and work with tools, with no issues that some gloves give you. They have a several reinforced patch areas, like the ball of the hand, directly below the fingers and the upper knuckle area on the backside of the hand. They are very comfortable and made with goat leather. I am curious to see how that wears in heavy usage and hoping it does not wear through easily.

The gloves are really comfortable, and provide good support and grip. The top of the glove is made of a material that is more breathable than the leather on the bottom. This allows for great functionality while also allowing your hands to breath a bit while using this product. I used this product for 2 days hauling rocks and shoveling dirt outside. While this isn't one of the uses listed on the product page (welding, metal fabrication, assembly, automotive), the gloves did work really well and I enjoyed using them. But, after the end of the second day I inspected the gloves and already found 3 holes in the top of one of the gloves (see picture). I'm not sure what caused this, but after only 2 days of use I was pretty disappointed with holes already forming in the gloves. I would expect similar problems to occur in welding shops or metal fabrication shops, but they would probably hold up fine for assembly or automotive tasks. Overall, the gloves are great, but they have their limitations. If you require gloves that hold up to harsh environments you may want to look elsewhere. But, in less harsh conditions, these gloves really do work well and I think would last a long time. I'd recommend these gloves.

Great set of gloves, soft and supple right off the rack, no need to break is. I am glad I got the 3x size as my hands are not that big and these fit me well. The gloves are treated for working with hot metal including NOMEX stitching, NOMEX is what fire fighters clothes are made with. The “callus” zoneS have an extra layer for more protection. These are Clearly designed metal Working including fire resistant materials, extra layer in the top of the palm and fingers, NOMEX and ready for use. Based on these being 3X I would recommend going bigger then you think you need.

I got these gloves for working on my car. My latest project is installing a trailer hitch on my new Honda CRV which requires working under the car where there are tight spaces and lots of sharp edges The gloves seem to be well made with double stitching in all the places that need reinforcement. The palm area and all of the fingertips (except the pinkie) have extra leather material for improved grip and wear resistance. The label states they are made from goatskin on the palm, and the back side is silicone infused meta aramid. The large size glove fit me perfectly. The fingers are just the right length and the glove protects my whole hand and wrist. The cuff has an adjustable Velcro flap for a nice comfortable fit. They are a nice balance of protection without sacrificing dexterity. Although not mentioned on the packaging…I was able to use the touch screen on my phone without removing the gloves. These gloves seem quite durable and are lightweight and flexible. I am very satisfied with the comfort and performance of these gloves and will be using them for yard work and more car maintenance.

If you are looking for a short cuff glove to work with metal, this should be given serious consideration. I like the heavy duty nature of the glove itself, yet it's supple for working with welders, tin snips and other metal working tools. The back is flame resistant giving you some security from burns. Very flexible. I found the sizing tends to be bit small so if ordering online give this some thought. My hands are not very large and an XL is tight. But these are still a great glove.

These are a very comfortable set of gloves for working around the house and yard on any number of tasks. I wore these throughout the day outside and in and even on a hot day they were cool and not where my hands would start to sweat in them. These I tested were actually a pair of X-Large and they fit me well and didn't bind anywhere and you had a good grip in the fingers all the way to the tips of your fingers. The wife tried them on and she is more of a medium to small glove size person and they fit her except for the figure length as you would expect was too long for her but otherwise they fit everywhere but the length. Overall these are the gloves that I will be grabbing for all those jobs that normally would chew up your hands and be hard on them.

DEWALT Medium Short Cuff Metal Fabricator's Gloves are a pair of tough, relatively tighter, fitting gloves. Metal work needs gloves that can be used around high temperatures and rough conditions. They are a necesssity obviously for welding and other jobs that require tough, heat resistant protection. Metalworking gloves are a combination of leather and fabric or all leather, made for varying degrees of dexterity and heat protection. For lighter metalworking they are thinner, more dexterous, and for tough jobs, more sparks and heat, they are thicker, longer and subsequently more cumbersome. The cuff is dependent on how many sparks are flying. These DEWALT gloves are definitely in the middle of these gloves, more towards the lighter end while still providing protection. They are made with goat leather which is a tough leather while maintaining finger sensitivity. . Since I intend to use them with a metal cutting circular saw and angle grinder, the gloves weight and short cuff is fine for my uses. I'd also say they can be used for light duty TIG and MIG welding, too. The issue here is the cuff, there is no protection about an inch past the wrist. The goat leather is on the palm facing, reinforced with more in wear areas. On the back side and cuff areas is fire resistant material all stitched together with Nomex, heat resistant, thread. Wear areas are reinforced around the thumb, finger tips, knuckle and on the side area. The knuckle also has some light padding. The short cuff is a hook and loop closure for easy on/off with an elastic adjustment for a tight fit. The gloves I'm using now, split leather, thicker with a small gauntlet are much older ones, looser and can be cumbersome to use. The DEWALT ones, a totally different feel, aren't limiting at all in their movement. The weight of these gloves is also fine for automotive metalwork and working around hot parts. They are soft, dexterous, able to pick up small parts that other thicker ones can't. It is a good pair of work gloves to have in your toolbox.
