Does this blade cut wood as well?

Yes, I'm using it on a miter saw and it cuts wood clean and easily, equal to my previous 84 tooth blade. Actually proving more durable. Key is the 84 teeth - this is more for fine cuts in lumber rather than rapid cross or rip cuts, where less teeth is the way to go.

Wood and polymer/vinyl are composites in my mind.. I even used it to cut vinyl siding and wood deck boards. Brittle plastics like ceiling light fixture lens I have not tried it might shatter/chip. Maybe if you sandwich it between wood.

Very good design. I was cutting drainage slots in trex 18 feet long every 6 inches the entire deck as PO butted them together causing pooling after rains. Cut with ease and gave clean cuts. Very thin cut. Had to double up a set of blades to get a wide enough groove.

7-1/4 in. x 44-Tooth Trex/Composite Material Cutting Saw Blade
This Composite Decking and Trim Blade works like a charm. Clean cuts with no "swirls". I did not get the "melting" effect with this blade as opposed to a normal carbide blade. The blade stays clean during use. Produces clean cuts with no swirl marks Intended for cutting composite decking and cellular PVC For use on 7-1/2 in. circular saws

Good buy
This is really a sharp saw blade, It is in a blister pack so be extra careful when taking the blade out. We didn't have any decking around the house and we wanted to try this blade out, So we got out a piece of pressboard and went to work anyway. The blade handled it with no problem, cuts fast, makes a real fine saw dust and really smooth cut. Bright red color makes it easy to find.

Smooth, thin, melt-free cuts
When cutting Trex or similar plastic materials, you always have to make sure you cut rather than melt the plastic. In the past I have cut Trex with a fine-tooth circular saw and gotten away with it, but after trying this blade I can say it works better. The cut edges are noticeably smoother, the cut itself is quite narrow (thin kerf means you cut less material), and it cuts easily. I have made a trim cut where the left-over Trex material is paper-thin and flexible, which I consider quite impressive. This blade is rated for up to 10,000 RPM. Even though this is only a 7 1/4" blade, I have used it on my 10" table saw, and it worked well there. If you like design details for why the blade may work so well, here are some of the advertised features (see photos): 1) laser-cut stabilizer vents to reduce noise and vibration; 2) thin kerf design removed less material for faster cuts; 3) modified triple chip grind (MTCG) tips for melt-free cuts; 4) Freud TiCo hi-density special blend carbide for ultra-long cutting life; 5) non-stick permashield for less drag and gumming. So in short, if you are going to be doing much cutting work with composite material, I believe it's worth investing in a blade like this.

Good choice for wood and cellular PVC. Leaves no unsightly swirl marks on the end grains.
After destroying a number of expensive saw blades trying to cut materials they weren’t designed for, you come to know that for every specific cutting job, there is a proper saw blade. A 24-tooth blade is a good choice for ripping or making rough crosscuts in heavy wood, while a 44-tooth blade, such as this one from Diablo, is ideal for giving a semi-smooth crosscut. However, blades designed for use with wood generally do not perform well with Trex or similar composite decking material. Some composites are made entirely of cellular PVC, while others are a combination of PVC and wood (wood-plastic). In either case, they are extremely difficult to cut as most saw blades designed exclusively for wood create too much friction and heat that can melt expensive composite decking material, severely dulling and destroying the blade in the process. This blade from Diablo is designed to dissipate heat, and, although very thin, is rigid so it won't flex and bend under load. I’m in the process of facing a deck with a combination of composite decking and cedar wood. To make my end cuts, I paired this saw blade up with my Milwaukee 7-1/4 circular saw. This blade’s ability to cut both composite and wood materials saves time by not having to change blades. Blades designed for cutting wood can handle short crosscuts of composite material, but will leave unsightly swirl marks on the end grains, but this saw blade from Diablo allows you to make clean end cuts without swirl marks. My only negative comment would be for the price of this blade, which is more than twice that of other blades designed for wood. If the quality of cut and appearance of the end grain on your composite material matters to you or your customer, then this blade from Diablo is worth the every penny, but if you intend to do general cutting and aren’t overly concerned about swirl marks on the end grain, there are less expensive options available. I recommend this blade for cutting composite material. This blade is also an excellent choice for wood cutting.

Better than most
The Diablo 7-1/4 in. x 44-Tooth Trex/Composite Material Cutting Saw Blade cuts more cleanly using my Craftsman circular saw. It has a thin kerf that reduced tear out and sped up the cut. I haven't used it that long, but the carbide edge means a blade that should last and stay sharp longer. This blade says its for composite materials such as composite decking and PVC, but I've used it on ply and it cuts that just fine. It has a coating to reduce drag and shields against heat, gumming and corrosion. Gumming for me is something I'm always getting which makes cuts harder and creates heat friction. From what I've done with it, its an excellent blade.
