Is this a true 3/4” diameter? I thought they were undersized 1/32” to snuggly accept a 3/4” sheet of plywood, which of course, is roughly that much less than 3/4”. Thank you for your response.

Answer This Question

This bit is 3/4" in diameter. It's designed to cut a 3/4" wide dado. Plywood thickness can vary slightly, but this bit should create a snug fit for standard 3/4" plywood.

        Answer This Question

I would suggest using a speed of around 20,000 to 23,000. On some routers that may be the fastest speed while others it may be one step down, e.g. number 4 of 5 stops.

Hi John, Thank you for your question. DR16520 Is a 1/2" shank, but DR16510 is the same bit, but with a 1/4" shank. Hope this helps.

Sounds like you have a hand trim router. This specific router bit has a 1/2 inch shaft. There are other router bits that fill the bill that are only 1/4 inch shank, but this is not it.

The router bit performed exactly as I expected it should. Each dado and rabbet came out smooth, chip free, and perfectly cut to size. I expect my purchasing and use of Diablo router bits to increase going forward. I have only had the bit for about a week, but made 18 dado/rabbet cuts with it on a bookshelf I finished this week.

Very nice router bit. I used this to remove material to patch a door knob hole in a door. It removed the material nice and clean was sharp and left a smooth surface for gluing. It was used with a small template that I made to remove a 5" X 5" area. This type of patch is often called a "Dutchman".

                  Ridiculously Effective!
I was skeptical at first since I had not used a top bearing bit. However, Diablo came through on this one. Get a piece of plywood (I used 1/4") and leverage the factory edge as your guide. This bit will make an extremely fast and clean cut that can quickly be repeated, with minimal need for re-setup. Extremely happy with this purchase.

Great bit with absolutely no resort of grain when routing dadoes in plywood.

I bought the bit to create channels for t track inlays on a workbench. This bit nearly met the requirements of 3/4 wide by 3/8 deep. Some adjustments were made on the router to achieve the desired depth. The sides and bottom of the channels were extremely smooth. However, the top corners had some tear out. This may be a result of the wood species (yellow pine). Going slightly deeper (1/16th) seemed to mitigate most of the tear out. Overall, I think it’s a good bit and I would buy again.
