Q:Are these belts are overlapping seam, or butt-seam?
by|Aug 21, 2019

Answer This Question

A:  I purchased 36, 50, 80, and 120 grit belts and all are butt-seam with the seam at a diagonal to the width of the belt and with a plastic splice on the inside of the belt. The splice is about ¾" wide.

A:  Butt seamed and they work well. Never failed or split.

    by|May 16, 2023

    A:  Yes they are overlapping

    by|May 5, 2020

A:  Hi Tiger! Yes, the belt has a butt seam. Thanks for the great question!

      by|Aug 4, 2021

A:  Butt seamed and they work great.

        by|Nov 10, 2019

A:  They are butt-seamed which appear to be both glued and taped on an angle. I’ve never had one break and I’ve been using them for going on three years.

Q:Can these belts be used for wet sanding on concrete?

        Answer This Question

A:  Hello Stretch, thank you for your question and interest in Diablo accessories. The Diablo sanding belts can be used for concrete sanding wet. However, I would recommend using a diamond cup wheel or a Diamond floor sanding pad that is rentable through Home Depots rental department. These items would work better and faster. Hope this helps. Thanks.

        by|May 4, 2023

A:  These are primarily used for wood not concrete and used dry.

            by|May 4, 2023

A:  The Diablo 3” x 18” Sanding Belts will fit any 3” x 18” Belt Sanding tool regardless of manufacture. Without knowing the exact model of the Skil Sander being referencing, it is hard to be 100%, but if it is a 3” x 18” Belt Sander, the Diablo Sanding Belt will fit.

              A:  I you have a 3" x 18" then it would work

A:  Belt sanders come in various sizes so you should check your sander's manual for the belt size you need. Yes, a belt of the correct size should work on any model sander that takes that size.

                    Belts breaking
I bought a couple of packs of Diablo belt sandpaper that apparently are faulty. They are all breaking at the seam after about 10sec of sanding. At first I thought there was something wrong with my sander (almost bought a new one-even went to the store but changed my mind when I saw the prices). Borrowed a sander from a friend instead and discovered the same thing happened when I used her sander. Found an old sandpaper belt, not Diablo, and voila no breakage. Frustrating to say the least!

                      Love the Diablo Sanding Belt
The Diablo sanding belt is awesome. Made quick work of an old table that needed smoothed and paint gone. Very durable especially with the work done

Belts lasted 1 min. before coming apart
I was very surprised because Diablo is usually a pretty good brand name with some quality. In all fairness I will say that I have had the belts for approximately 3-6 months on a shelf in my workshop. But I went through 4 belts in last than 5 minutes with each belt coming unglued. I have to say that I am disappointed, guess it’s time to try another brand.

                          Not impressed
I bought a five pack Diablo 3x18 sanding belts 50 grit. Each belt lasted about 15 seconds before each belt let go at the tape seam. Would not and will not recommend to anyone, very disappointed in diablo's products from the saw blades right down to the sanding belts, never again.

Not worth a crap...do not buy!
Bought the 5 pack of 80 grit to do some sanding on a couple 4x4 posts. I went through the entire pack before even finishing because the belts kept breaking.

                              Repeated seam failures
Think the longest I could get one to last was about 3 minutes. these simply kept coming apart at the seams.

                                Truly impressed
I’m a novice knife maker and I use a 3x18 belt sander to flatten my rough forging. I bought the diablo belts after having better results over average belts with Norton Red Heat belts. I thought they were the same. They are definitely not the same. I was blown away by the amount of metal that these belts moved with the cheap belt sander I have them on. Again, truly impressed by these belts.

Purchased DIABLO 3 X 18 in. 80-Grit. Sanding Belt to help Grandson Joshua build a porch swing. The sanding belt is tough and durable. Only one belt was necessary for the entire project. The belt cleaned up with a brush and a little water and is ready for another project. Home Depot had all the wood and hardware we needed to complete our Grandfather and Grandson project. A great experience for both of us.
