About This Product

DIG's PVC coupling is used to connect 1/2 in. (.700 O.D.) poly tubing to 1/2 in. PVC pipe. The slip side the coupling is glued onto the end of 1/2 in. PVC pipe with PVC glue. Then the poly tubing is connected to the compression side of the coupling by holding the PVC coupling in one hand and the drip tubing in the other, and forcing the drip tubing into the fitting compression side for about 1/2 to 3/4 in. by walking or wiggling the drip tubing back and forth into the fitting. This adapter is primarily used to connect 1/2 in. poly tubing to existing or new PVC sprinkler pipe.

Q:Would this fitting connect poly pipe marked .49 inches to a 1/2 half inch PVC pipe? I see that the diameter is .700, but I can?t tell if that is inside or outside diameter.

Answer This Question

A:  The DIG #D48 adapter is too large for your .49” tubing. It is likely that this is the ID of the tubing and DIG does not produce or provide any fittings for this size of tubing.

    Answer This Question

A:  Our D48 compression to ½” PVC fitting is designed for .700” OD poly tubing. If the poly tubing you are using has an outside dimension of .700” it should work with our .700” OD fittings. Answer This Question

A:  Compression couplings join two tubes or thin-walled pipes together.

A:  A compression coupling is a connection that allows two pieces of tubing, or a section of tubing on one end, with PVC on the other side of the coupling to be connected. The coupling is a one time use, as once the tapered end of the coupling is used, the tubing cannot be removed without cutting it out.

A:  The compression fittings including the coupling, tees, elbow and swivel adapters are type of fittings used for drip tubing connections. They hold the drip tubing by grabbing into the outside diameter and holding it using a sharp edge. It is important to know the size of the drip tubing you have to be used with the correct size compression fittings. To connect, use a simple wrist action with pressure; the polyethylene drip tubing is "walked" into the fittings for a very tight fit with no tools, glues or clamps required. Compression fittings and drip tubing sizes: .630 OD drip tubing use with compression fittings with green inserts .700 OD drip tubing use with compression fittings with black inserts .710 OD drip tubing use with compression fittings with blue inserts. Home Depot should also carry the 0.62-0.63 size drip couplers as this previous version was largely sold at Home Depot earlier. Now, if you need to make a repair, you’re unable to do so.

            Great product
I am installing my first garden irrigation system. It had been recommended that PVC pipe should be used when crossing a path (and burying the pipe). However, I didn't want to buy glue, etc. to connect the hose to the pipe. These worked exceedingly well and were very easy to use. They were inexpensive, can be reused again in the future (when I dismantle the system in the Fall) and were delivered for free. They were much easier to use than most barbed connectors and I have not had any leaks. Great product.
