I have found that under certain circumstances when you first install the fitting it can leak. I have always used the Teflon thread tape which always works for me.

After 3 months of no issues, I started to see a steady stream of water from my backflow preventer. I have my water timer, backflow preventer, pressure reducer and then the irrigation tubing in this order. I put a new backflow preventer in and same issue immediately. Short of changing out the pressure reducer, any ideas on the problem? When I remove the backflow preventer altogether and hook the water timer directly to the pressure reducer, everything works fine. But I'm guessing this is not a good idea. Any help is appreciated!

I love how digcorp says this is "quite unusual" - out of 29 reviews, 17 are one-star. This is a piece of garbage and I won't buy anything else from this company.

Does water leak out from the fitting after the water is shut off?

I want to connect this to my sump pump and do not want the water that is pumping up hill to drain back to the pump and leak out.
Asked by: Noah
The short answer is yes the water does leak out of this backflow preventer after the water is shut off. It is designed to do exactly that.
