Q:Is this for a garden hose fitting or pipe?
by|May 3, 2023

Answer This Question

A:  Our backflow preventer is threaded in ¾” hose thread (¾” FHT X ¾” MHT) same thread used in your standard garden hose. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our technical service/product support team directly at 1-800-322-9146 or tech@digcorp.com.

Q:Can this device be installed at an elevation lower than the highest elevation of the drip emitters?

    Answer This Question

A:  It should be fine. Neither water pressure nor flow should be reduced with this device. It is designed to restrict water from going back up into the line.

A:  Mine is lower than the majority of my emitters and it works fine.

      by|Feb 2, 2022

A:  It should drip when the pressure is off.

        by|Jan 13, 2024

A:  This is installed on the hose near the timer. My drip lines do run lower than the item shown for 1/2 of system. The other half is at the street level so it is above it

          by|Feb 2, 2022

A:  If the backflow preventer is installed at a point where it is below the drip emitters, it will likely still function, but the device may discharge more water than normal when the system valve is closed. The backflow preventer should always be installed outdoors in a place with drainage and where brief water discharges from the device will cause no damage.

                A:  Mine did not leak.

                by|Apr 11, 2020

A:  Yes it does, this hose end backflow preventer is not for use with sump pumps (only hose bibs). Sounds like you should be looking for some type of check valve.

A:  The short answer is yes the water does leak out of this backflow preventer after the water is shut off. It is designed to do exactly that.

                    Blew out after 3 weeks
Split open after just a few weeks. The part is held together by a tiny amount of glue. Do better.

Fixed the leakage problem together with the pressure regulator.

                      Garbage quality
I don't like to write negative reviews, but this item is garbage. It leaks after 6 months of use. I'm on my third one. It's inexpensive to replace but there is clearly something amiss with the manufacturing process which could be easily fixed with $0.10 more glue. Dear Corporate Buyer at Home Depot, find a new supplier for this part. Attached photo demonstrates the leak at front and rear of the item.

                        Do not buy.
I bought this in February 2020, but didn't install it until around April. It worked fine when I manually turned the water on to the drip system, but once I finally left the water on and the drip set to automatic, the thing started leaking after a few hours. Luckily I checked it before I wasted too much water. See picture. Unfortunately this is the only backflow preventer sold at HD. I'll need to find a more reliable one at a different store.
