Anyone having an issue with the outlet side threaded vent cap on the top cracking and blow off water? I have less than 80 PSI and these are rated at higher at 125 PSI? See pic....Also do they sell these separate? I cannot find them any where.
Asked by: Dave
I do not know why the part is cracking under 80 PSI and will suggest to contact DIG customer service at 1800-344-2281. Ask for Felipe Sanchez or Stuart Spaulding. They will provide you with all the support and will ship you a new part at no charge. DIG

How high from ground should it be. I have it at 6"" and when it shuts off i get water coiming out of anti siphon side.

Asked by: Fonzie
It is normal for the valve to discharge a little water when shutting off. It should stop leaking right away. If it continues to leak, the valve is faulty and should be replaced.

Do the connections on the bottom spin or are they fixed?

Asked by: jay
They're fixed. I found it best to use threaded plastic pipe with threaded universal joints to mount it so that I could easily replace it when it fails next time. My last one, a similar unit by the same manufacturer, lasted a few years.

Customer Reviews

3/4 in. Digital Timer with Anti-Siphon Valve is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'd buy it again I can't speak to longevity, since I'm reviewing this only a few days after I installed it. But I can review some features: ^The main body is tough enough to withstand screwing the fittings in very tight with wrenches. What I mean is that the body didn't crack or break when lots of pressure was applied to the threads. ^The instruction manual is quite clear about how to operate this unit. You know how some manuals are hard to read because it's translated badly from Chinese? Well this seems to have been written by someone who knows English very well and has actually operated the unit. ^Installation of batteries (not included) is very simple. ^Programming the unit is easy. ^It has a nice cover over the screen and buttons to keep dirt out. ^So far it works exactly as it should. ^The control unit has a spiral cord similar to an old phone cord. This allows a user to remove it from the body to a more comfortable position for programming. This is a very nice feature.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent, but bound to break This is really the only product I can use if I want an automatic sprinkler. It is not very durable and if it is near a driveway or on your lawn it is inevitable that it will break. How do I know? I am on about my 4th one. (At near $50 a pop, plenty of screaming and cussing ensued.) They improved the "neck" portion of it so it is not as fragile as before, a small accidental hit with the mower doomed 2 of these for me. This time they offered me a extended warranty on it, so I feel a little better. It was like 7 bucks for the warranty so you have to do it, trust me, it is worth it. As far as programming and running, that part works great for me, that is why I keep going back. Hard to recommend this, but I don't see a lot of other options when you don't have power.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install I would not use this product anywhere I could easily run power, however, I work on a large property and power is not always available. This product has been a life saver in those spots. We currently have 8 installed and they have all been working fine for over a year.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Water waster Turns on OK. Will NOT shut off the water flow. Controller indicates it is off but the water continues to flow through. Hundreds of gallons a day go to waste, far exceeding our water allowance. Only way to stop the flow is to manually turn the water off at the source for a moment or two, then and only then will the solenoid close. Stays off until the next time it is scheduled to turn on, but then it will not turn off when sprinkler run time is finished. Manual gives three suggestions to fix this, none of them work. Called tech support but they offer neither solution nor workaround. Warranty repair takes four weeks or more, the whole thing has to be taken out and shipped. My plants can't survive that long without water. Replacement parts ordered on line cost the same as you pay for the whole thing at Home Depot with no assurance they will fix the problem plus there are shipping charges. Cheaper and quicker to buy a new one, but I have no confidence that a new one would work any better than this one. I need to water my plants a couple of times a week. This week. I can't wait four to six weeks for warranty repairs. I have to buy something else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from god valve I use these on my 3 acre property for my trees and tiered garden beds .. I have had parts fail, BUT I just call DIG and they send me replacement parts. Its under warranty for 3yrs. I like the battery operated valves because then I don't have to run electrical every where .. Good product overall .. company backs their product, they have never asked me for proof of purchase, they just replace the parts. Will continue to buy when needed. I think the people who don't like these don't realize you just have to call manufacture for replacement parts.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No good for small drip systems...period This valve requires a half gallon per MINUTE flow rate for it to close/shut off....30 gallons an hour. That's a HUGE amount of water for most home drip systems...far beyond what any drip line I have will use...that's 30 1 gallon/hour drippers JUST to get to the MINIMUM flow needed for it to be able to shut off. Mine just stays on and there's no way to shut if off. This is a controller for lawn watering systems or long drip hose installations with over 30 dripper holes (50' or so).

I bought the DIG RBC8000 about 1 year ago (July 2016) not having high expectations. I needed something fast so picked this one out without much research. I live in North Hollywood, CA and with the high temperatures consistent watering is key to my garden. One missed watering and my plants go through stress or die. This timer works beautifully. It is simple to install, simple to program and it keeps my plants watered, never missing a scheduled watering. My garden is happy and so am I. Oliver
