Yes you are able to use a garden hose with this kit. All you would need to do is install the backflow preventer and pressure regulator that are included in the kit directly on your faucet. Then connect the garden hose and connect the swivel compression adaptor to the other end of the garden hose. If you have any further questions please contact our Technical Service/ Product support team at 1-800-344-1172.

I already have my drip irrigation installed for my ground garden. I have a raised bed beside it....

Answer

Yes using our .700 OD compression tee C35 or our universal nut lock tee C55 you can connect to your existing poly drip tubing. The only thing to note is the maximum flow of the ½ inch poly drip tubing at 25 PSI is around 220 gallons per hour. I would recommend adding up the flow rate of the emitters you have on your existing drip system and subtract that total from 220 gph to see if your remaining flow is sufficient for the raised beds you are looking to irrigate. If you have any further questions please contact our technical services/ product support department at 1-800-344-1172.

Can i connect the beginning of the line to a hose, instead of an actual water source/spigot

Answer

It has a connector compatible with a hose faucet, so it should work with a hose as well.

How many drippers are there inside the box, if any?

Asked by Gardener August 15, 2020

Answer

The ML50 kit does not include any individual drip emitters, it includes a 50 foot roll of ¼” dripline also known as microline with .65 gph drip emitters installed every 9 inches. Now you can always add drip emitters to the kit if needed we have them available in a variety of flow rates. If you have any questions on the installation of this kit we do have 2 videos detailing the installation of the ML50 kit. https://www.digcorp.com/homeowner-drip-irrigation-products/ml50-raised-bed-drip-kit#video_articles

The ML50 kit includes a 50’ roll of .700 OD poly tubing. If you need to add more ½” tubing to this kit you want to make sure the tubing is .700 outside diameter. If you have any other questions please contact our technical service/ product support team at 1-800-344-1172.

Can this be connected to a rain barrel and will the pressure be sufficient to make it work properly?

I hooked mine up to a rain barrel that is on cinder blocks. It can water at a slow rate when the barrel is fairly full but only the first few offshoots. It does not have enough pressure for any sprinkler attachments or lines that are far from the source.

The system was easy to assemble, and was perfect for my raised bed garden. There was extra of the emitter hose, but I expected that, since I only have a small number of plants to irrigate. Instructions, while not very detailed, were more than sufficient to complete the assembly. One thing I learned is that it works much better to insert the couplers between the large and small tubing into the small tubing first, since gives a better ability to push the coupler into the small tubing. Pushing it into the large tubing was much easier.

This was (is) an excellent kit for raised beds. It has made large positive difference is both (a) the yield of our garden, and (b) the conservation of water. We are extremely happy with this kit, and the extensibility of this kit is second to none. We ordered a few extra lines and attachments, as we had four 4x8 foot beds. Easy to assembly, took about an hour. We paired it with a battery powered automatic solenoid valve that opens for 45 minutes every day - we live in Ohio, and it gets up to 90oF in June & July.

This drip irrigation kit has everything you need to set up a watering setup for a small garden. The drip lines come preset with holes every 8 inches or so. I used a thumb tack to make additional holes where needed and purchased some additional line and connectors to water my entire set up. My only issue was that the backflow adapter failed when hooked up to a timer as our water pressure is really high. But the system works well with just the pressure regulator.
