Good idea, but it turned into an Engineering Project.
We needed a draining base for our large pots on the patio. The overflow from the drip feed was staining the Saltillo tiles. So Engineer Chris decided to try these. Ordered one and it appeared good, so he ordered 3 more.
Problem 1: the large and very heavy pots have 3 metal legs each, which would have instantly broken through the plastic tray, which is hollow underneath. Solution: he filled the underside area with concrete.
Problem 2: the legs of the pots would still have a small contact area on top and would have put excessive pressure on the plastic tray at the point of contact. Solution: he had a friend cut 12 little 3"x3" tile pieces to go under the legs and spread the weight.
Drip irrigation tubing was installed and run alongside the drainage pipes at the rear. The stucco wall had an area cut out to feed the drain pipe through. With the help of the wife and a car jack, the pots were re-located onto the trays.
So far it all works, after a month of construction and a week of use.
Had these been normal flat bottomed pots, it might have been less complicated...

Works perfectly for what I needed. Mine are under a couple of ceramic pots sitting on our BBQ wall and I didn’t want the water to discolor the travertine top.
