The duct port or cutout on Dryerbox Model DB-425 measures 4-3/8" from left to right and 3-7/8" from top to bottom of the cutout. It is oval, not a circle.

My dryer vent goes downwards, would that really affect the air flow at all if it was already going down into crawl space?

This Dryerbox model is for upward venting. You may want to take a look at Dryerbox models 3D and 480, https://dryerbox.com/specifications.htm

I need to exhaust horizontally through the outside of my 2 by 6 exterior wall at the top of the 4” diameter vertical metal duct. This requires a 90 degree change in the direction of the air flow. What wall exhaust fitting do you suggest. Thanks

This product features a 4" round duct connector located at the back of the box, designed for a standard 4" dryer duct. The top of the box itself does not have an opening.

Can you trun and use it for going down with exhaust

            Answer This Question

While the Dryer Box can be installed in a downward venting configuration, it's typically not recommended. The manufacturer makes specific downward venting models that are better suited for this purpose. I recommend checking those out for optimal performance.

                  What Customers Say
Summarized by generative AI from text of customer reviews

Customers say the dryer box is a sturdy and well-constructed product that effectively allows for a closer fit of the dryer against the wall, improving space in laundry rooms. Many appreciate its solid aluminum-coated steel design and ease of installation, particularly in new constructions. However, some users noted challenges with alignment and sizing, particularly in retrofitting situations, and suggested that clearer installation instructions and additional tools could enhance the experience. Overall, it is regarded as a valuable solution for preventing kinks in dryer vent hoses.

Unfortunately, I the depth of my wall was not sufficient to install this box. I wanted it because it is sturdily made, allowed plenty of room for both vent and gas line (if you needed it) and installed properly, sealed against wall drafts. Alas, this is definitely something for new construction or a remodel with ample depth (need ~4.5 inches).

Allows the dryer to be closer to the wall without crushing the dryer vent duct
This box is great. I installed it in the wall behind a new dryer so that I was able to push the dryer back closer to the wall without being concern about crushing the dryer vent duct. I now have more space in the laundry room. I highly recommend it and will use this on dryer projects in the future..

Didn’t work in my application. This unit doesn’t actually locate the recess in the right spot if your wall studs aren’t in the right position. Also this only works if your duct work goes up, mine doesn’t, it goes down into the subfloor. I tried reversing it so the cutout is on the bottom, but it just doesn’t work out that way. So, make sure the wall studs are in a satisfactory location and not directly behind the dryers exhaust port and don’t try to use it if your ductwork direction is downward.
