Can you provide temperature range for application?

You don't want to go below 50 deg during 24 hours.

Can this be dyed grey and used on floors? If so, what dye would work? Thanks.

Asked by Donnie September 14, 2020

Answer

Powdered DRYLOK is not for use on floors. Please use DRYLOK® Floor & Wall Waterproofer. You can leave the Floor & Wall as is (clear, gloss finish), apply DRYLOK® Concrete Floor Paint or E1 1-Part Epoxy, or traditional floor coverings such as laminate, vinyl tile, or carpet.

Can this be colored with a concrete coloring agent

Answer

Small amounts of colorant can be added, just keep the colors in the light/pastel range. For more information, feel free to call us at 1-800-272-3235.

what is the best way to apply? and can it be shaken at the store to mix??

Answer

Please note this product is a powder that requires you to add water and mix when ready to apply. Here is a quick review: Add 2 pints of cold water for each 10 pounds of DRYLOK® Powdered Masonry Waterproofer. Stir until the mixture is free of lumps. Thin it with an additional 2 pints of water for normal application, or 1.5 pints of water for heavy application. Stir until it's smooth. Wait 15 minutes, then stir it again and apply. Use the same proportions of water and DRYLOK® Powdered Masonry Waterproofer in succeeding mixes to ensure a uniform color tone. Mix no more material than can be used in 3 to 4 hours. The area to be painted must be thoroughly dampened with water prior to painting. Do not paint it until the surface water has been absorbed. Spotty drying indicates the surface is not uniformly damp. Continue to dampen walls ahead as you paint. When painting under hot or windy conditions, a wetter surface is necessary. Using a DRYLOK® Brush or a stiff bristle brush, apply the product with a scrubbing motion. On interior surfaces and in extremely dry conditions, to improve curing, continually dampen by misting newly painted walls after 6 to 8 hours. Apply 2 coats. Allow the first coat to dry for 12 to 24 hours before applying the second coat. Dampen the first coat before applying the second coat. What's the difference between Drylok Powdered Masonry Waterproofer and Drylok Masonry Waterproofe...

Asked by Kevin July 4, 2020

Answer

DRYLOK Powdered Masonry Waterproofer is a dry mix that you add water to and mix, there is no liquid resin in the bucket. DRYLOK Original and Extreme are both ready-mix products and use our proprietary DRYLOK resin. No measuring, no mixing of water and powder needed. DRYLOK Powdered Waterproofer is our economical masonry waterproofer. DRYLOK Extreme does offer a 15 year fully transferable warranty.

Can epoxy coating be applied on top of the waterproofer?

Asked by Kevin July 2, 2020

Answers

DRYLOK Powdered Waterproofer can be topcoated with many different products but it would be best to consult with the manufacturer of the epoxy also. We meet these standards (if they ask) ASTM D-16, D-1653, D-6904, D-7088. For more information, please visit: http://www.drylok.com/products/drylok-powdered-masonry-waterproofer.php

can this be used to seal a cistern

Asked by Tom June 2, 2020

Answers

Tom, If your plan is for use on a cistern I would recommend that you do the inside and the outside. If you cannot do the inside also it will seal all the pores but the pressure of the water that will force some water into the masonry inside the cistern will eventually cause it to start to come off the outside in flakes. Joe

Can i use this product like regular cement to mske flower pots snd othet craft items and does it dry white

Asked by Cleo May 22, 2020

Answers

Cleo, This is a masonry coating. It does not have the strength to "make" pottery or pots as cement or concrete or ornamental figures. Make those out of the same material you are already using. After the cement, concrete, or plaster has cured feel free to coat them with Drylok. They will last for many, many years and the prodict dries bright white and after it cures it stays bright white even when it gets wet. Joe

I have a chimney inside the house and it is throwing sand. What product do you recommend for this situation?

Answer

I suggest contacting a chimney repair service. We do not manufacture products for use inside the firebox or chimney.

Not the same product as the premixed 5 gallon. I bought it on the recommendation that it was a money saver. While it cost less, it is about 3/5 of the premixed in volume and the texture is different and it can't be saved for use the next day or even hours later.

Response from UGL Customer CareJun 11, 2021
These are indeed two very different products, each with their own characteristics and features. It's unfortunate that the recommendation was poor and unfair to rate this product in comparison to a different product. We always encourage our customers to read or go on-line and see the product application videos for our products, a powdered waterproofer while less expensive per square foot, requires a whole different skill set to both mix with water and then apply on a wall when compared with a ready mixed product which is ready to use once the preparation steps have been followed. Hopefully you still obtained waterproofing performance even though product selection experience has caused you some pain. wtuckerugl

I've used this several times over the years and it is the best! You have to follow the instructions for prep and mixing exactly and apply two coats being sure there are no holes in the coating. Seems to last forever. I recently used it to coat some concrete steps. It would be nice if you could change the color though.
