Q:Why does the specification section say there are 126 pieces in the one pound box? But the product details says there are only 91 pieces in a one pound box? I would expect your information to be accurate.

A: There are not 126 and the product description is not accurate in that the screws are not #8. I too would expect the information would be accurate. HD has been notified of the error and they have failed to correct it. Try Lowe?s as their info is accurate.

A: The 5 lb box has 453 screws so the 1 lb box should be 90-91 screws per box not 126. So there is obviously an error here

Don’t buy these, I’m having to replace them all.
I used these screws to install the deck boards on my new deck back in March. Once the boards started drying out in April I noticed a few of the them had started to curl and that a lot of the screws were sticking up, which I assumed was just due to the wood shrinking. However when I tried to tighten them down they just spun like they were stripped out in the hole. So I bought an extractor and removed a few only to find out they were broken. More than half of the screws look the same way…

I went through several boxes of these screws. Out of all of the screws I only had one bad screw. They got the job done. I would definitely recommend these to anyone building a wooden deck.
Perfect for deck boards

Screws stain cedar
I chose these screws for installing cedar fence pickets in the hope that they wouldn't cause tear stains. Well, it's been two years, and they have caused staining. The stains could be worse, but it's still disappointing and I won't be buying these again for a fence project.

Great product
Great screws. I used these for a Christmas project that is exposed to the elements. They drive well into the wood. I’ve used different lengths of this product and it always satisfied my needs. Comes with a #25 bit.

Absolute garbage
Installed these in a brand new deck in July 2020. Barely over a year later I am re-tightening screws due to wood shrinkage, and more than half of them are broken. Now I have to replace every screw in my basically brand new deck. Never again, Deckmate.

“improved” version is worthless
“Improved” version absolutely sucks. It’s horrible, does not pull the two pieces of wood together. The screw just keeps spinning. Bring back the old version, which was perfect!!!
If you want to pre-drill every hole, buy it, otherwise look at other brands. I am so disappointed as I bought a lot of them and I used to rave about this screw using it for everything outdoors and indoors. Picture shows “improved” version on left, with different thread pattern that does not create a tight connection anymore.

These screws are perfect for installing pine fence pickets. I love the screws and use them all the time (both two and three inch). Honestly though, you can keep the driver bit. I only use the Dewalt brand. You may want to consider placing a Dewalt bit in the box. It would only cost you guys about 40 cents extra. Just saying :)
