Q:will the saw accept a dado blade
by|Mar 11, 2017
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Yes, it will accept dados. You will have to buy the dado insert plate, that will be another ~$55. The motor harbor is not too big. Therefore, 1/2 is the most of your dados... you might be able to get 5/8 on it but it will feel bad. If I would be looking for a table saw with~$1200 spending limit today, I would definitely consider Foxshop or Grizzlly hybrid models. You will get more options with way better saw for $200-$300 less. Oh! Do try to call Delta customer service, BEFORE you buy anything.... Did you call them?:) Now, just picture that your Delta saw needs parts/service.... Hm-m-m... Do you see what I am talking about?

A:  It's a belt driven saw. Very quiet, actually. Best to rewire it to ~220v.

maybe it's delta's fault The sheet metal extensions do not reach the height of the cast-irob table. The mounting screw holes should have been oval. The (?) feet do not work as one of the mounting holes is not tapped through. Only three of the leg mounting holes were punched/drilled

      Rust. Never outdoors, and rust.
Bought this last April. It is now September. Rust has started to form on the “stainless steel” table top. Never stored outdoors, never exposed to moisture, always kept clean, and even surface covered with light gun oil to prevent rust. Yet still rust. So soon., Also, the motor is too small and lacks sufficient power to rip at anything more than a snails pace. I have pictures but this won’t let me upload them.

This is my second delta table saw. I looked at other table saws in the price range of $800 - $1200 and really wanted to spend that much to get a good table saw.The first table saw I had was a Delta; had it for 18 years with no problems. NO PROBLEMS. I wanted to stick with Delta but after reading reviews from other home improvement stores I started looking at other brands. BUT I saw this saw on sale for $200 off at HD and I had to jump on it; regardless of the average rating other users had given it. I have used this saw for 14 months now and it has not disappointed me. I am particular so the setup took me a few hours but once I got it set, it is very accurate. Good size table surface, mobile, powerful and stable. I am very happy that I stuck with Delta for this purchase.

I had really high hopes for this product. I have a Delta scroll saw that I have had for about three years and I have loved it. It started off badly with challenges with the order. There was only one box that arrived at the store. I told the customer service rep that I was sure that had to be two boxes because the supports for the rip fence would not fit in the box they gave me. She was very nice and followed up with Delta. She called me back in a few days and said she had the other box. once I got it put together it worked nicely for about 4 months - I got almost finished with the bed that I'm making for my granddaughter. the motor started bogging down and then started tripping the breaker. It would not even cut through a 2x4 stud. I thought it might be the blade I was using, so I put a new blade on the saw. it didn't make any difference. I sure am disappointed in the product that I purchased.

I think if you can get this saw on sale, it is a good deal. There are others out there that are very comparable, so I believe it is a matter of what you can get the best deal on in this price range. There are several great things about this saw, and several downsides as well. Pros: - Heavy cast iron top that virtually no vibration - Moves easily with the integrated mobile base - Most of the components feel very heavy duty Cons: - Dust collection could be better. The shroud around the blade might actually prevent the dust collection from being better. - The fence, although better than others, is not that great, and impossible to keep set right - The stamped wings are a little cheap feeling, and are difficult to get perfectly straight. - The miter gauge, although heavier duty than most, is still not that great. Overall, it is still a decent saw, and for the right price, worth the money. I wouldn't pay full price for this saw. Better out there for that kind of money.

            Great machine.
Well yes is a pain assembling this machine, but is it worth it. I could easily give 3 starts but since I am happy the way it works i will give 5 stars to this beautiful machine, nothing compare with other machines + the price is great!!!! Thank you delta for this machine, they need to work on the assembly because it was hard for me until my 15 year old son came to help me and he did it really fast. I bought mine at lowes is cheaper there.

DO NOT BUY this table saw! I am a home improvement contractor. I've purchased Delta table saw for my contractor's work and you know what....? It was at the repair shop for over 70 days during the first year now and I have no idea when it will be repaired! So, what would you do in my case? You've spent over of $1200 for a tool and that tool undergoes over a 70-days repair (it is still at the repair facility and I have no idea when it will be repaired). Well, I just had to buy another table saw for my work. You know what? There are several very good table saws in the same price range, manufactured in US and backed up with a great warranty. Thus, there is no need to buy Delta for your shop! It is a very sad story when we observe what has happened to Delta power tools over the last several years, and this change is very, very dramatic. From a legendary quality tools it dropped to a low quality designed/build power equipment. The last, but not least thing. Terrible, terrible, terrible customer service!!!!! Before you buy any tool from Delta, just try to reach their customer service by phone..... I am an expert on this matter now. If you were able to reach Delta customer service within or less than in 20 minutes of waiting period

New Delta is a sad joke.
Motor failed after 3 cuts. Called Delta Service and waited on hold for an hour with no answer. Called Delta Sales and they picked up immediately. When asked why I couldn't get through to support, the salesperson claimed "We just moved locations and we didn't bring any support staff with us, so there's nobody to answer your call." I'm dumping this saw and buying one from a real company. Old Delta was amazing. New Delta is a terrible joke. Don't waste your money.

              Customer Service from Delta Nonexistent
First, let me say that I've purchased many products over the years that did not impress me but I've never been irritated enough to take the time out of my day to write a negative review. This is my first. And, to be fair, let me also clarify that this review pertains more to customer service than the saw itself- the saw doesn't blow me away with its power but it is smooth and accurate and generally adequate for the modest price. So, here's my gripe. I needed a couple small parts. One of which was my fault- I nicked the edge of the fence with the blade. The other was the fence cam and fence handle which literally broke one day when I attempted to lock the fence into place. Delta has a pretty web sit with a nice diagram of the saw with part numbers, etc.. So I ordered the aluminum fence tube, received an e-mail confirmation of my order showing that it had been billed to my credit car, and now, a month later, I have not received the fence tube. I tried to contact Delta to follow up on my order and to order the cam and fence handle and they cannot be reached. Literally, you will be on hold all day and no one will ever pick up the phone. I have tried numerous times. Delta's web site now says its on line store is experiencing technical difficulties and its outgoing voicemail says they are moving they're north American headquarters so there may be delays in customer service. This is an understatement. Customer service is not delayed- it's nonexistent. I contacted one of the local Delta service centers here in Cincinnati to see if I could get some assistance and the comment made by the service tech was a resigned "that company's just not what it used to be." So, bottom line, if you're buying this product with the expectation that Delta, another formerly proud American company, will back its product then I would look elsewhere. Very disappointed

              Lemon or poor design
Initially the saw preformed well. However after a few months , maybe 100-150 on/off cycles, the starter windings burned out. Since it was past 90 days of purchase I couldn't return it to H-D. The nearest certified Delta repair site put a "new" motor in the saw. The rebuild was poor, the miter slot blade alignment is off by 1/8". The alignment procedure provided by delta doesn't allow this much movement. Delta tech support can not offer suggestions to correct the problem. Their best suggestion is to take to another authorized Delta repair shop. My suggestion is to avoid this saw.
