Can this be installed from inside bathroom? As i have no access to attic!
Asked by: jack
It sounds like from the other responses it can, but I would be careful. The housing is quite large. I measured to make sure the size given in the product listing would work, but didn't realize the unit also has protruding metal pieces and goes back 6in. I couldn't angle it in the opening and had to get a smaller unit.

It is an LED module if I remember correctly. I don't think it is a replaceable bulb.

does this fan have a flapper that closes when the fan is not in use to prevent cold air from leaking into the bathroom?
Asked by: TC
Yes it does, but it is located in the plastic exhaust port which assumes a 4" connection. My particular installation needed to be reduced to 3" because of the old ducting. There went the flapper. You might have enough room to install a reducing accessory to keep the flapper; I didn't.

My contractor installed my exhaust fan so I can't speak to the ease of installation but he said there were no complications. As far as the light/exhaust fan goes, I love it. The fan is so quiet I wonder if it at all works. I took a hot 15 mins. shower and sure I got some steam lingering in the bathroom when I was done but it cleared up in a couple of minutes and all my walls and ceiling was dry. Before the exhaust fan my walls would be wet for over half an hour and my ceiling was grossly wet with water drips. Yes, gross brown water on my ceiling and I would have to wipe it off with a towel. My new exhaust fan works beautifully and no more gross brown water drips from my ceiling. The light is nice and bright. I had the exhaust fan/light combo installed pretty close to my shower so this is the only light I use when I shower. It's nice that I don't have to turn on the other lights to shower anymore. So glad I bought this!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LED Light Modules I'm replacing my bathroom ceiling fan light and after reading these questions & answers I just wanted to clarify: there is no actual light bulb in the sense that you folks are asking. Your concern was if it burns out, then replacing it is expensive. We consumers have experienced the revolution in lighting with the transition from incandescent bulbs to CFL, then to LED, and this new 'direct wire' module is the newest, longest-lasting and most affordable innovation in my own opinion. After you hardwire your electrical connections to power the unit, the fan has a simple plug that connect to the unit thereby providing power for the fan. The light is a module as mentioned in the answers posted here by HD,and it is connected directly to your power source when you connect your wiring. The module mentioned is sort of a flat reflective plate with multiple diodes implanted on it which collectively provide ample light. So there is no actual bulb to burn out. If the module burns out then it is almost as easy to replace as a bulb. But these new 'direct wire' light fixtures are designed to last for thousands of hours of use before burning out. Just trying to help.

I installed this 10 months ago in a 100 sqft bathroom with a vaulted ceiling and it works great at removing the humidity. It replaced a builder installed basic 50cfm fan that couldn't do the job. A certain member of our household likes to take long hot showers and would fog up the space in no time, not anymore. I saw some other comments that suggest it doesn't move enough air and I'd just like to point out a couple of things to consider. 1) Any fan can only move as much air out as it can draw in. If you have a very tight house, or you keep the bathroom door closed and don't have a decent gap at the bottom of the door expect to crack open the window or the door because otherwise there won't be enough air to enter the room to replace the air you want to push out. 2) The exhaust ductwork acts as a resistance to the air moving out and needs to be sized properly or it could greatly impede the airflow. The installation instructions are weak on this and basically say to use 4" duct and make it as short and straight as possible. According to the International Code Council flex duct is not recommended for this size unit and only a straight run of 10' or less of smooth-rigid duct is recommended. Going up to 5" it allows up to 42' flex or 91' smooth-rigid, and for 6" dia up to 158' flex or unlimited length of smooth-rigid, at 7" dia flex length is unlimited. Each rigid duct elbow counts as 15' toward the total length (sorry, I don't have a similar number for turns in flex duct but that depends a lot on the bend radius).

The fan motor ramps up slowly and quietly and REALLY pulls the air out of our small powder room. The vent flap is in an easily detachable (black) plastic vent assembly. From past experience, it is the flap that often causes noise issues as the unit gets older. Being able to replace the flap or the whole plastic vent piece seems like it would be easy, especially if there is attic access to the unit. The only thing that I have to get used to is that the LED is in a module that would make replacement of the entire module a requirement. I can see this being a problem if the LED burns out somewhere down the road. The consolation there (hopefully) is that the LED will last for decades with moderate use and will probably outlast the fan component. One other thing I liked about the unit is that the wiring in the onboard junction box is MUCH, MUCH more accessible that another very fine unit from Panasonic (though that one had a heater, fan, light and night light) . The electrical piece of the installation was very smooth.

Start up is not like instant full suction, but fan appears to be much better made and quieter than the Broan 80CFM that I had only installed 4 years ago and the motor seized up. I would recommend this unit for a small bathroom.

It was so noisy I couldn't run it and be in the room at the same time. During a bathroom update I decided to look for new exhaust fans.Noe I've heard Delta Breeze were quiet so I bought two, one for each bathroom. Love them both.
