Asked by: Smalls33064
It is an LED module if I remember correctly. I don't think it is a replaceable bulb.

does this fan have a flapper that closes when the fan is not in use to prevent cold air from leaking into the bathroom?
Asked by: TC
Yes it does, but it is located in the plastic exhaust port which assumes a 4" connection. My particular installation needed to be reduced to 3" because of the old ducting. There went the flapper. You might have enough room to install a reducing accessory to keep the flapper; I didn't.

We ended up not installing it but the light and fan would run simultaneously.

My contractor installed my exhaust fan so I can't speak to the ease of installation but he said there were no complications. As far as the light/exhaust fan goes, I love it. The fan is so quiet I wonder if it at all works. I took a hot 15 mins. shower and sure I got some steam lingering in the bathroom when I was done but it cleared up in a couple of minutes and all my walls and ceiling was dry. Before the exhaust fan my walls would be wet for over half an hour and my ceiling was grossly wet with water drips. Yes, gross brown water on my ceiling and I would have to wipe it off with a towel. My new exhaust fan works beautifully and no more gross brown water drips from my ceiling. The light is nice and bright. I had the exhaust fan/light combo installed pretty close to my shower so this is the only light I use when I shower. It's nice that I don't have to turn on the other lights to shower anymore. So glad I bought this!!

As advertised: very quiet, efficient (i.e., keeps 6' x 10' bathroom steam free).Built-in light is very bright (My fan/light is not on a dimmer). No complaints at all.Two provisos: (1) I had my fan/light professionally installed and the installer had some difficulty making the necessary hookups and fitting the housing into the same space as the previous fan/light even though the written specifications indicated both units needed very similar space requirements. But, in the end, he was able to complete the installation without any changes to the ceiling. (2) reliability: I'm a little worried that my fan/light will not last that long based on some comments my installer had to say about similar units (but not identical) that he has worked on.

However, I would not recommend it as a retrofit for an existing fan. This fan should be used for new construction only or a re-model where the ceiling sheetrock will be replaced. My old fan housing sides were smooth with no protrusions. The small lip at the bottom of the GBR80LED fan housing plus the mounting "ears" prevent its installation into an existing opening in a ceiling. Fortunately, the old fan was 9x9 inches and the GBR80LED is a bit smaller. I had to cut the sheetrock on one side, install the fan from above, and then fill in the gaps with wood and caulking. The fan's cover covered the fill work I had to do and it is functioning well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LED Light Modules I'm replacing my bathroom ceiling fan light and after reading these questions & answers I just wanted to clarify: there is no actual light bulb in the sense that you folks are asking. Your concern was if it burns out, then replacing it is expensive. We consumers have experienced the revolution in lighting with the transition from incandescent bulbs to CFL, then to LED, and this new 'direct wire' module is the newest, longest-lasting and most affordable innovation in my own opinion. After you hardwire your electrical connections to power the unit, the fan has a simple plug that connect to the unit thereby providing power for the fan. The light is a module as mentioned in the answers posted here by HD,and it is connected directly to your power source when you connect your wiring. The module mentioned is sort of a flat reflective plate with multiple diodes implanted on it which collectively provide ample light. So there is no actual bulb to burn out. If the module burns out then it is almost as easy to replace as a bulb. But these new 'direct wire' light fixtures are designed to last for thousands of hours of use before burning out. Just trying to help.

This unit replaced a 1960s era Air King 50CFM unit that rattled the house when running, so naturally the Delta Breez is a huge improvement. Beyond that, it really is borderline inaudible in a small bathroom, and it certainly moves more air than the old one. The LED light is an addition we are glad to have chosen, as it perfectly augments the existing lighting. Fit and finish is very good to excellent in all respects, and all required installation materials were included. Overall an excellent value that exceeded our expectations.

We had this installed to replace a 5 yr old fan made by a brand that you see regularly at Home Depot. The old fan was loud and never really could keep up with the steam in our very small bathroom. It's spring time right now - that means neither the furnace or the AC are running. Usually we get lots of steam after a shower. When I got out this morning, there was literally no steam on the medicine cabinet mirror. This is a great fan!

The fan motor ramps up slowly and quietly and REALLY pulls the air out of our small powder room. The vent flap is in an easily detachable (black) plastic vent assembly. From past experience, it is the flap that often causes noise issues as the unit gets older. Being able to replace the flap or the whole plastic vent piece seems like it would be easy, especially if there is attic access to the unit. The only thing that I have to get used to is that the LED is in a module that would make replacement of the entire module a requirement. I can see this being a problem if the LED burns out somewhere down the road. The consolation there (hopefully) is that the LED will last for decades with moderate use and will probably outlast the fan component. One other thing I liked about the unit is that the wiring in the onboard junction box is MUCH, MUCH more accessible that another very fine unit from Panasonic (though that one had a heater, fan, light and night light) . The electrical piece of the installation was very smooth.

Installed one from inside room and one from attic. Both installs went smooth. Included instructions were not very helpful, but there are YouTube videos that help. These fans move the air very well and are super quiet! The light is bright and pleasant. I would highly recommend this fan.
