Questions & Answers

Do you need attic accsess?

Asked by: Anthony
If you have an existing fan/light combo it would be possible, but challenging. The fan design is clever to allow much of the installation below the ceiling. The mounting box/electrical box and fan mechanicals are separate (interesting, the answer from Delta Breez above is wrong on this). The hole for the fan is big enough that you would have a chance to install wood above the ceiling to receive the mounting screws. You could conceivably do the electrical wiring below the ceiling level, but this would be very hard. The fan connection is clever to allow you to pull the fan through the box, then connect the adapter. The problem is that for an existing fan, you won't have extra length of electrical wiring or exhaust vent to work a foot below the ceiling. The fan has many functions, so you may need to add additional switch wiring to get the best results.

do this fan have to be connected to a switch?

I was thinking on adding this to a bathroom that does not have the wiring for a fan. i wanted to know if it can be just connected to the direct current and just be in sensor mode or it must have the switch?

I have owned this exhaust fan for about 4 months now and I absolutely enjoy it. I replaced a builder grade fan that was loud and was beginning to fail. This product is night and day better than a builder grade model. Although not silent, it is pretty quiet and remarkably quieter than the fan I replaced. I installed the fan myself and it was fairly easy for me to install. I was a little concerned with some previous comments about the humidity sensor not working properly or always continuing to run. Everything works for me when I installed it in my master bathroom on the second floor. The humidity sensor works great and automatically turns off when the acceptable humidity level is reached. Overall, the exhaust fan does an excellent job of reducing/eliminating humidity as well as odors. As a side note, the square footage of my bathroom was sized for an 80cfm exhaust fan, but I decided to go up one size for the 110 cfm and I'm glad I did. It works perfectly and I would definitely purchase this fan again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great fan, but humidity sensor doesn't work Not quite sure how to rate this. Bought 2. They are amazingly quiet and clear out the air very quickly. In my one bathroom where we installed it on the wall right by the shower, the mirror doesn't even fog up. But the humidity sensors in both fans don't work. Blue light is supposed to be humidity; amber is manual on/off. Our blue is low speed (very quiet) and amber is high (a bit noisy). Talked to the Delta support guy and he says this means the humidity sensor is not working. We checked the wires and all is connected correctly.Delta said they'd send us a new sensor, but since two aren't working, I don't see how that would be the problem. I wonder if Seattle air is always over 60% humidity? Could have spent an extra $50 to get Delta Breez SIG110H where you can adjust the humidty sensitivity. So love the fan, but if you want humidity sensing, you may not get it. Works great as a 2 level fan. My contractor says he's never heard such a quiet fan (note that SIG110H is saying it is .3 sone so much quieter.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excelent fan, easy instalaton, great value I was pleasantly surprised when I unpacked this Delta exhaust fan. I found its compact design and the adapter plate for connection with the exhaust piping, just what I needed to facilitate a difficult upgrade installation. It was possible to install the fan in a very tight space utilizing the flange manufactured on the box for a flush instalation. The unit is very quiet and its humidity sensor is a plus in that it can be left on to completely evacuate moist air. I have not owned this fan long enough to comment on durability but based on the construction I think that this unit will give many years of trouble free operation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bathroom exhaust fan Exhaust fan works great. The boys always forget to turn on the fan when taking their showers and the walls and room is filled with humidity. This fan automatically goes on when needed. There is also an option to turn it on and off manually as well. No more arguing about who is going to wipe off the streaks on the walls from their long showers!!! Love it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product This fan is very nice. Quiet operation and the humidity sensor works like a charm. Easy to toggle between the two modes, switch on, see the blue light, humidity mode on. Switch off and back on again, see the Amber light and the fan is now on high like a normal exhaust fan.
