Thank you for your review! We apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing with the stopper of this Delta Faucet model 35747LF-BL Chamberlain 8 in. Widespread 2-Handle Bathroom Faucet in Matte Black.
We do offer the Delta Faucet model 72175-BL push up drain assembly in the matte black finish which would allow you to fully engage the stopper and simply leave the lift rod installed for cosmetic purposes. Please see the following link for more information.
