    I believe when I installed this, I recognized it as a slip on spout. There should be a set screw on the underside of the spout you have now that you can loosen up and then gently pull and twist slightly to remove the current spout. This one has a plastic slide on piece already in it so you just slide it on and align it and then tighten the set screw. You will need caulk in order to put around the wall and the end of the spout to make it look flush, but not too difficult overall. Easy install in probably 10 minutes or so.

    How does this spout attach to my 1/2" male fitting coming out of the wall about 1 1/4". This item does not show the back side of the spout.

    Thank you for your question. This spout comes with a threaded adapter for 1/2" IPS connections. This spout should work with this application.     Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # RP64721 is a metal tub spout. There will be some plastic components inside the tub spout but the outside is metal.

    I have 4.5 inches of 1/2 inch threaded pipe extending from the wall. Will this diverter fit?

    The number of stars applies to Home Depot's product description, not specifically to the quality and value of the actual product. The product description says this is 5.25 inches long. I had it delivered and was surprised to see it is actually 7 inches. The Delta website confirms in its Q&A section it is in fact supposed to be 7 inches long. I'll be returning this to Home Depot and will get Delta's model RP81273OB instead (not sold at Home Depot). Other than that, the item looks and feels of decent quality.
