Q:Hello - I am comparing this Tub Filler with the Kohler Purist - the Purist shows it has a 12" reach and the faucet has a more straight line vs. upward curve. This shows about the same with 12" -- but the faucet isn't as long?

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi, CheezWhizSmile! Thank you for your question., and I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing low flow from your Delta faucet. Unfortunately, there is not a flow restrictor you can remove to get more flow. If you are experiencing low flow, we recommend to flush the valve body to make sure no debris is causing the flow issue. To flush, first turn off the water supply to the faucet. Remove the handle assembly, unscrew the bonnet ring and remove the cartridge assembly and all seals. Rinse and clean the cartridge out thoroughly. Turn both the hot and cold water back on for 10 to 15 seconds to flush out the valve body. After the allotted time, turn the water off and reinstall all of the components. Make sure that there is no debris on the cartridge assembly and seals. If this does not fix the low flow, we recommend to replace the valve cartridge assembly, RP46074. Best Regards, Rosanna

I had the opportunity to evaluate this well made tall tub faucet. AKA Roman tub faucet this unit is very well made with premium connections. I received everything needed to floor mount this unit. YOU WILL NEED TO KNOW THIS REQUIRES ACCESS FROM UNDERNEATH YOUR FLOOR. If you do have this access and a available water supply the installation is straight forward with great instructions from HD. It is preferable to plan ahead with your tub position and BEFORE final flooring is installed as it requires a cutout in your floor and subfloor support in most cases. Once installed it is a real nice unit. Noted on other reviews is the "Warm water" that comes out with no "hot". This is a setting at the factory for "lukewarm water". It is easily adjustable and noted in the instructions. Be aware also that the floor "install" kits are two types depending on your needs and may be an extra cost. Consult your local HD experts for advice.

I am super excited to get this tub filler installed. I have my new free standing tub and my new tub filler. Now all I need is to finish building the new house. So for now let me tell you about the Delta Trinsic Floor Mount Roman Tub Faucet and how much of a strong statement it makes even before installation. This tub filler may be minimalist, but it give a very masculine and bold look with the brushed stainless look. Even the hand held shower stands out as masculine and bold, but simple. I do like the fact that the hand held shower has a hose that can reach up to 80 or so inches. For us tall folks, that's awesome. I have a few pictures below to show the beauty of the tub filler. I cannot wait to get this installed and write an updated review with this beautifully majestic faucet in action.

A solidly built and nicely finished tub filler, but with some issues – primarily flow rate, water temperature and (possibly) dripping. These topics are mentioned in quite a few other reviews but don’t seem quite as bad as often claimed. Appearance-wise the tub filler has a massive feel, particularly the valve, which I think was accentuated by the brushed nickel finish. If we were doing it again we would go with chrome. Many of the other reviews’ complaints about lukewarm water temperature are due to Delta’s extreme approach to scalding danger. Their default temperature limit for the cartridge is set very low, so out of the box you get lukewarm water when the handle is all the way to hot. But, READ THE MANUAL. There is a whole page discussing adjustment of the maximum temperature limit. This turned out to help, but didn’t totally solve the problem. I found that the tub filler actually dispenses water at about 6-7 deg F lower than a regular faucet on the same line. With 119 deg water at an adjacent faucet, the filler (out of the box) initially output 90 deg water. After adjusting the temperature limit on the cartridge to its maximum setting, that went to 113 deg. To get 120 deg water from the filler I had to increase the water heater to give 127 deg at the nearby faucet, wasting energy. Setting the temperature this high may not be a good idea though. Delta’s customer service acknowledged that there is some cold water bleed-through with the cartridge, even when set to full hot. Flow rate was the second issue. Delta’s specification says “Spout flow up to 10 gpm @ 60 psi” but, despite our house pressure of 80 psi, I could only get 3.9 gpm of warm water or 2.2 gpm of hot water. I can’t definitively say that our plumbing doesn’t contribute some constriction, but we don’t notice flow problems anywhere else. So other reviewers complaining about low flow probably have a valid point. Delta does offer an “Optional high flow cartridge”, model RP73598, that is rated at 13.5 gpm @ 60 psi, so that might help a little. While the optional cartridge might give a higher flow rate, it isn’t pressure balanced. That means that sudden changes in water pressure (such as flushing a toilet) could change temperature of the flow so that using the handheld could scald you if you set the max temperature too high. Unless you really need a higher flow rate, I would stay with the standard, pressure-balanced cartridge. A number of reviews on Delta’s website report faucet or handheld dripping after some time and blame the cartridge, which covered by Delta’s lifetime warranty but is a nuisance to have to replace. In early testing we haven’t experienced this. Note that the tub filler is not usable by itself. You must buy a Delta “Rough-In” to connect it to water supply pipes and to mount it to the floor. Delta has 2 models of these Rough-Ins, a basic one (R4700-FL) and a more versatile one (R4700-FLWS) with two important differences between them – how you install them and whether they have “stops”. The R4700-FL is just a steel plate, two vertical brass connecting stems and misc. parts (amazingly little for its price), so you have to solder copper water pipes and elbows to the bottom of those stems. Unless you are experienced in soldering copper to brass, I would NOT recommend using the R4700-FL. The R4700-FLWS is much easier to install as it has horizontally-oriented ½” NPT threaded inlets for hot & cold supplies. This is particularly convenient if you are using PEX for your water supply, as you can just screw brass PEX adapters into the base and crimp on the PEX. And the R4700-FLWS has “Stops” that enable shutting off water to the tub filler if you need to work on it, without shutting off water to the house – a useful feature. I personally feel that for the price of the tub filler, Delta should include a Rough-In. But at least this way you get to choose which Rough-In suits your installation. For the relatively small price difference between them, I would highly recommend the R4700-FLWS. I would also like to compliment Delta’s customer service. They were very responsive and gave helpful feedback about the issues we encountered.

This Delta free standing tub faucet is gorgeous. I received satin nickel to match everything else in our newly renovated master. This is a very heavy, solid piece, I didn’t find any plastic components! The not included rough in is the component for the floor. I am really not sure why they just don’t include this, since you would need it to install. But anyway, my husband installed this with no problem, we are on a concrete slab and then tile, so need the right drill bit to go through that. No issues once installed and water flow is good.

This was so easy to install. I installed this in less than an hour. I was replacing an old floor mount faucet in my manufactured home and I simply unscrewed the plumbing from one and screwed on the new. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. This is made from very high quality material and adds a very nice sleek upgraded look to my bath tub. It is very easy to wipe clean as well.

This will be our second floor mount faucet we have owned. They are so beautiful and this Delta is no exception. We are not prepared for installation at this time as we are currently waiting on our tub to come in. Also this remodel is being completed at our lake house. However I did take a picture whilst still wrapped, my husband asked that I keep it wrapped and protected until ready for install to ensure we did not misplace parts ect. I can update with more pictures once install is completed Faucet came well protected for shipping. Brilliant stainless finish that will add class to any bathroom.

This is a very solid faucet with a beautiful stainless finish. The listing says it does not come with the valve, but that is misleading. What is not included is the adapter that mounts to the floor and supplies the faucet. The faucet is all stainless and very sturdy, but the hand wand is cheap feeling, time will tell how it holds up. Overall though this is a beautiful faucet, and will look great in our remodeled bath.

DELTA. What else can be said. When I researched water fillers for our bath remodel, Delta kept coming up on top. This is very well made and top quality. Stainless Steel was the only way for us to go. This mounts to the floor with water coming up thru the floor. Comes with a solid floor mount and has a nice shower wand and hose. All stainless steel. Comes with a LIFE TIME Guarantee.

This faucet is beautiful and appears to be very well thought out and produced. The stainless finish is a nice touch and wont show fingerprints as much as other finishes. Anyways its a nice big heavy faucet and the end pivots so you can direct the water a little better if you need to. it looks great and feels very well made....my only beef with this thing is that at this price point the base cover should be metal also.....i am pretty sure its plastic and at this price point why not just make the cover metal as well......Anyways i am happy with this faucet and time will tell of its durability. MIne came with the rough in kit as well but i think i just got lucky with that one lol

            No hot water
We purchased this from Fergusson. We had the plumber install it. It looks great but the water will not get hot. Reading these reviews I see that is a common complaint. What tool do you use to open the handle to adjust the temperature? So frustrating that at this price it is not ready to use. Not sure if the plumber should have handled it or not.

Response from Customer Solutions Aug 19, 2019
Hi Ally, I'm sorry to hear you're Delta tub filler is not getting hot. The cartridge does come set from the factory. The installation instructions advises that the rotational limit stop must be adjusted during installation on page "7" (https://media.deltafaucet.com/MandI/74820%20Rev%20G.pdf). You will need a 1/8' Allen wrench to remove the set screw in the handle to make the adjustment on the cartridge. Feel free to contact us at customerservice@deltafaucet.com or 1-800-345-3358 with any questions. Best regards, Brandis
