The fact that I am 5'2", peeked my interest in the Big-Reach Pole Hook and accessories. A very sturdy design, with numerous adjustable lengths , a rubber grip making holding the pole firmly without slipping . I no longer need to get out a ladder to reach hard to reach high places. Included is a 18' duster to clean ceiling fans while standing on the floor, the duster can be removed from it own handles for washing, it attaches to the pole by simply turning until secure. Having a Pole hook was an added bonus, it is fire-proof Zinc alloy, this can also be attached to the pole when needed.

The DocaPole 30 foot with Utility Hook means I stay off a ladder while reaching broken tree branches. I have been leveraging loose branches out in preparation for removing a dead tree so there is less worry about branches falling while cutting the tree. Nothing good comes of being hit by unexpected falling branches. I had no safe way to get to those branches until I got this DocaPole with Utility Hook. The standard screw fitting will even let me swap the hook for a pruning saw so I can cut loose vines holding broken branches so I can get them pulled out with the hook. This is a big safety boost for me. The nested aluminum sections extend and fix with easy to use clamping levers so any length from shortest to longest can be set. If you pull too hard on a stuck branch the sections might slide which indicates you need to get the branch loose before pulling. I could typically get a branch loose with a combination of pulling and pushing but sometimes you will have to cut something to get it free. I also found the DocaPole easily reaches high flood lights to adjust their aim. Just be sure to check the lights aren't set too tight to be adjusted. This is another case where I stay safer by not having to go up a ladder on uneven steep ground. The DocaPole also comes with an adjustable angle fitting and a fluffy duster to reach and clean other high spots around the house.

I needed an extension pole for many reasons. This zinc alloy metal material makes it rust proof and not too heavy. It weighs about 5 lbs. The hook is great for putting up string llights or retrieve things. I have found that it works best at the length of about 20 feet and using the bigger parts of the telescoping pole. When you use the last extension section, the pole bends easily. I was hoping to use as a pole tree saw bu again does not work well over 20 ft. There are thumb levers on each section to easily extend the pole. The pole also has a padded grip that is comfortable and makes it easier to handle. You can use this in muliple ways with standard screw on attachments like a brush, paint brush, duster, saw, etc. There is also a 180 degree hinge tip for wide-ranging versatility and applications.

A telescoping aluminum pole useful for stringing outdoor lights or dusting objects high in cathedral ceilings, this tool is supplied with a duster accessory, a plastic adapter to permit angling an accessory and a pole hook with an “M” shaped design to permit more effective control when lifting or pulling down on, for example, lighting strings. The hook incorporates a locking screw to prevent the hook from rotating when in use. The manufacturer recommends a maximum pull/push force of 20 pounds. Side loading will be limited by the length of extension, as, when fully extended the pole is rather flexible (“bendy”). Lever type latches are provided for each telescoping section, however, two of the levers (molded plastic) engaged a raised detent (see photos) to prevent inadvertent loosening when in use, while the other two latches did not. The manufacturer wisely incorporates a warning label cautioning not to use near electrical lines, though the label is an adhesive backed plastic one which will probably not be long lived. The pole is provided with cushioned comfort grips at its base and at the location where it will be handled. The pole/grip diameter is a comfortable size for gripping. As noted, there is considerable flex when fully extended which may limit precise positioning. When partially extended, it is considerably more rigid and will be quite useful for stringing holiday lighting. Certainly, it will be a big improvement over the wire coat hanger and painters pole I have used in the past, the “M” shaped pole hook provides much more control without “snagging”. I was surprised that there was no indication on the pole sections to indicate the limits of maximum extension for that section. That would be a nice addition, though one could do this with a felt-tip marker if one desires. If you have a need for a long reach for relatively light weight positioning (or dusting), this will be a useful item.

VERSATILE HOOK; MAY BE DIFFICULT FOR SOME to LIFT and CONTROL WHEN EXTENDED; INCLUDES DUSTING ATTACHMENT --- The DocaPole 7 ft. - 30 ft. Extension Pole and Multi-Purpose Utility Hook Attachment Telescopic Pole Hook for Hanging Lights has the potential to be expanded to an amazing 30 ft. Although there were a few instructions on how to attach the hook to the pole, there were no other instructions or tips which could have been helpful. Initially, I extended the pole from the base sections. In doing that, since I am not a super strong person, I was not able to lift and control the pole when extended more than 20 feet and it worked best when extended no more than 15 ft. The pole is not heavy but when extended, the center of gravity moves outward from the body, requiring more power to lift. Then I decided to extend the pole with the top sections first. In doing it in that direction, the pole was not as heavy and I could lift it when extended up to 25 ft. and use it comfortably when extended no more than 20 ft. It is challenging to control when extended to the liftable length, whatever that is. Two of the latches were too tight to extend the corresponding lengths and had to be loosened with a screwdriver. The extensions were still more difficult to extend and retract than I would have thought. The hook has a special shape with protrusions that make it versatile for many applications. When attaching the hook to the pole, the set screw should be loosened so that the hook may be screwed all the way down on the pole. A number 2 Phillips screwdriver works best for doing this. Then after the hook is screwed on, the set screw can be tightened so that the hook is firm on the pole. The pole has a long padded area which makes it easy to hold at lower lengths. Our first application was removing a dead, forked branch that had caught in the branch of another tree. See the photo. The special hook made it easy to get under the fork to remove it. Otherwise, we would have needed to get out a ladder or just let the branch remain. The package included an attachment for positioning the hook at an angle to the pole. This may be useful in some situations but the attachment may come loose from the pole since it does not have a set screw on it. The package also included a surprise of a dusting attachment which is useful for dusting high or difficult to reach locations. The dusting attachment can be removed for washing by pressing the thumb clasp. For many people, a 24 ft. pole may be a better choice. It is a simple tool that would have been handy for many past situations and will likely be useful for many applications over the years. It is made in China.

when using fully extended the pole bent will not close into each other

The utility hook to hang lights did not come with my order. Being so close to Christmas and not getting the correct order. I am going to return the pole and try to figure out a better way to get lights on my tree.
